Towing Question

I bought a 06 2x4 SE back in september and it did not come with a trailer hitch, only the bumper hole. I called Nissan today because i am planning on buying a wave runner for the summer and asked how much the wiring would be along with the installation of a hitch. they said it would cost 500 bucks so my question is. should i go to U-Haul and buy there hitch or should i go to nissan and buy the 500.00 hitch?

Re: Towing Question

Go to a dealer, just not the one that quoted you $500,the wiring is plug n play, the hitch is a bolt on.You could do it yourself with limited mechanical skills.Check around for the best dealer prices, where are you located?

Re: Towing Question

Im located at Chattanooga TN. It is only bolt on? no welding to the frame or anything? I hope you dont think i mean the hitch with the ball that a trailer connects to. i mean the part that goes under the car, onto the the frame that the hitch goes into.

Re: Towing Question

Seriously do some searching on here I want to say the guys are paying around $200 for the OEM hitch kit at the dealer and installing their own.
Make sure the kit has all the relays you need, these may be additional.
I would guess paying about .5 to 1.0 hrs labor would be fair on top of the parts price.
$500 just seems a little too high, take this price quote(below) in and talk with the Svc Mgr(not the advisor) see if he will work on the price with you!
Note:the link below shows a complete kit with relays and the 7 pin connector, also in the link are the install instructions, look it over and decide if you want to do this or pay them to install for you.
Good luck and enjoy your new ride!

Re: Towing Question

JC Whitney has class 3 hitches for $130. (Curt round tube)

I just bought a draw-tite class 4 for $169. (round tube)

Hitches are bolt on fit for vehicle.

Walmart carries the plug in for the lights with a 7 round/4 flat connector for around $30 (Hoppy 41155)

The (2) relays (lights) are $28 bucks each (dealer) You won't need the brake control relay...yet.

30 minutes installed by myself.

Re: Towing Question

Get Nissan OEM hitch, they look the best by far and they are probably the best for the Titan. Well worth the extra $70 bucks over a non OEM.

Re: Towing Question

Don't goof around, get the factory hitch kit...it even comes with the correct bolts. You can search around for best price...

The factory hitch is a Class IV rated, not the Class III offered by others..
