PML Diff Cover Install

Installed my PML Diff cover today om my 04 SE CC non BT. Born on date 06/04 with 49000 miles and have never touched the rearend. Pulled the old cover fearing the worst but got surprised. Minimul shavings, and the oil was not bad at all. Everything looked just like it should. Cover went on easy, hardest part was getting oil in with the limited space. Looks great and now I feel a whole lot better about my rear end.

Re: PML Diff Cover Install

Congrats! I can not tell you how much better I have felt since changing out my old diff cover. I am glad to hear your fluid was good as well. Mine was low and pretty dark. I now regularly check it and since has been great.

A tranny pan would be another great addition for our trucks. That would probably solve some of the tranny temp issues.

By the way I took plenty of pics of the install, I just don't know (although I've tried) but I just can't figure out how to upload pictures. Any one help me?

Re: PML Diff Cover Install

Went straight to PML directly. the website is yourcovers.com got the cover, the e brake bracket and the brakeline clip for like $223.00 including the shipping.

as cast model. also put in a temp sending unit so that I can put a guage on in the future.

More info on the sensor.. Are you going to run a Gauge? Did the bolts come with the cover?

Re: PML Diff Cover Install

Not to jack the thread... I haven't changed mine yet, but I've been thinking of trying the Stillen cover as it's about a buck cheaper ($130). Anyone have any opinions on the Stillen vs PML?

Correction - it's only about $50 cheaper comparing aples to apples (incl brake bracket).

Re: PML Diff Cover Install

Derwood, thanks for the help on figuring out how to upload pics!

Bolts come with the cover. Bracket and clip are extra. the sending unit I bought at Auto Zone for about $12.00.

Yes I agoing to put a gauge in but am trying figure out where to put everything. I am going to install an aftermarket tranny temp gauge and also have to find a place for the airbag gauge and control lever

Re: PML Diff Cover Install

I have not seen a stillen cover in person but the web pics looked like the fins were not as large, ( I could be wrong), but I wanted max cooling and capacity. I live in SW FLA where it is extremely hot and I am going to be towing a 26' TT w/ super slide about 7800# fully loaded. I wanted what looked like the most cooling cover for the price.
