Cabover Camper anyone used one?

I got a question if anyone has ever put a cabover camper on a nissan crewcab. I would like to go this route if possible because it will allow me to haul the boat also. If you have tell me what you got. Thanks,

Is it a light boat, with a featherlight tongue weight? I know there are some Titans with slide in campers, but they are pretty heavy.....it eats a lot of the payload capacity.

I concur that the Slide-ins get heavy. In fact unless it's a very stripped model a dealer probably won't sell/install one for a half ton. Nothing to do with truck being pwereful enough it's just that even with off-road and BT you don't have enough weight/suspension to counter balance nor the rearend to handle it.

Yea that is what I figured. They sell a few that are pretty basic that will work but they are really not what I need. I wonder if you could set up a small travel trailer or pop up with a hitch to pull triples. It is a 15 1/2 foot bass boat.

I was looking into the same option this weekend. Didn't want to do a pop up so that I could camp at the base of the mountain in the winter and get first powder runs of the day. So I went to my local Lance Dealer and they told me that I could use the Lance 825, new for the Tundra and Titan. Supposed dry weight is around 1645, the options I wanted were going to take it up to 1950.

They said with the airbags and better tires I would be just fine....I think they were full of it, I just dont think my truck can handle that safely. Especially with the rear end problems that older Titan's have had (I have never personally had the issue, and pray I never do) but I don't want to find out going down a 6% grade with 2000 pounds on the back of my truck.

anybody's thoughts....? I really would prefer a camper to a toyhauler or travel trailer....

I have been looking at the Palomino Bronco.

The market is getting MUCh better for crew cab campers.
There are several that I'm looking at...

1. Six Pac, S650 (The D650 model has bath, but may be too heavy)

2. Four Wheel, Hawk (this is the lightest and one I will most likely get...made from aluminum and low profile pop-up design great for gas milage)

3. Palomino, Bronco

4. Northstar, TC650

5. Hallmark, Milner LX

6. Northstar, Freedom (also full bath...also probably too heavy)

7. Lance 805 (a new model, light and designed for 1/2 ton shortbeds...this one looks really nice and I'm a Lance fan).
