Prodigy Brake Controller

I just bought a travel trailer and prodigy brake controller. I have never pulled a trailer before and am kind of nervous. I am pulling a 19ft r-vision hybrid trailer with an 06 titan with the big tow option. I will be traveling with my wife, 14 year old daughter and two dogs. I think I am ok with weight but my big question is the brake controller. I just ordered the prodigy from rvwholesalers.com and I have the wiring that came with the truck. Should I use the wiring that came with the truck or should I buy the other wiring from the site? If I go with the truck wiring how should I splice the wires? Any help woudl be appreciated. Thanks.

You can use the factory pigtail to the prodigy, however, the color codes on the wires do not match the function, so make sure you look at the controller wire to truck pigtail function. I personally would buy the pigtail that you can plug up to the controller and then plug into the brake harness and eliminate the factory pigtail altogether, then there is no splice its just connector to connector. Make sure you buy one for the Nissan Titan, they are cheap so ask about it where you got the controller. They shouldn't be more than about 15-20 bucks and worth the lack of hassle vs. hooking up the factory pigtail.

Sftail1990 is on the money with his advice. Follow it and you will find that the installation is a ten minute job.

Re: Prodigy Brake Controller

Hey, Sftail1990 and I are in agreement on something! I have towed in snowy, icy, wet and dry conditions through the mountains and my Prodigy controller has worked great for me.
