Re: electric brake?

No matter what Titan you have with or without the Big Tow package you MUST purchase a separate brake controller. If you don't already have the Big Tow package then you will need the relays.

The wiring harness for the brake controller is located up in the dash above the emergency brake.

I bought the Prodigy brake controller and the Titan wiring adapter so I wouldn't have to do any wiring and also so it could be quickly removed.

That's the route I went. Prodigy + Nissan harness. Worked like a charm.

My buddy pulls a 32' Magic with his 2500HD. His trailer has electric brakes.

sorry for the mini-thread jacking...

how does one determine a need for an electric brake controller?

my dad's boat trailer has surge brakes. it is the only trailer i've pulled with the Titan to date. for future reference and other towing needs I don't want to be caught short not having a brake controller..

when i worked for a landscaper we always had an additional controller in the cab for the trailer brakes...

in the future (distant) i have hopes of owning a small camper or toy hauler.

opinions please.

THANKS!

Re: electric brake?

If the trailer has electric brakes then you need a controller. The trailer usually has electric brakes if it has something other than the flat 4 pin connector.

I really like pulling a trailer with electric brakes. It makes the trip a lot safer in my opinion.

Buy the connector when you buy the controller. If I remember correctly mine cost between $10 and $15. If you have the BT package and the connector the install is a ten minute job.
