Running Lights Only - Trailer Brakes, Brake Lights, Signals Don't Work

I have a 2008 Titan without a tow package.

I recently rented a U-Haul motorcycle trailer and they sold me a 7 pin to 4 pin wiring adapter. The U-Haul guy could only get the running lights to work. The brake lights and turn signals did not work.

I have now installed a Hopkins Agility Trailer Brake Controller with a trailer brake jumper wire harness from Nissan.

I still have running lights only. No brakes, brake lights, or turn signals.

Please help.

Did they install all the relays you need?

Your truck came without the towing package.
You therefore need the relays.
Snap bang.

Thanks. I just checked and my truck doesn't have any relays at all.

Do you guys know which relays I need and where they are located.

I have relays and yet I get the exact opposite reaction. Blinker and brake lights work, but no running lights. I also have the 7 to 4 adapter.

U-Haul part # 13804. Get all three relays for around $25, don't give Nissan $25 apiece.

I had the exact same problem with my truck when I tried to tow my boat for the first time. My dad told me it had to do with the adapter that I bought. After looking at it further I found that I had a pin on the plug in the back of the truck that was not making a good connection.

Just a thought... You might want to take a test light and make sure you are getting power to the pins for your running lights.
