I go by 75% of tow rating. The titan should have no problem towing that. The rating of the titan is more realistic than the f150's 9900lbs rating. I'm saying it is because all trucks can handle their tow ratings but only some has the motor to move it efficiently such as the titan. The f150's motor is too underpowered to move such a weight.
"In the 22nd annual tow vehicle competition, five 1/2-ton 4WD pickups competed in several tests. After weeks of data gathering and towing a 7,840-pound trailer/boat, the editors voted unanimously in favor of the new Nissan Titan. The Nissan Titan has a maximum towing capacity of 9,500 lbs."
The above statement is from thecarconnection, in regards to the Trailer Boat magazine test of five pickups.
This is a quote from the Titan's owners manual which I downloaded from the Nissan website.
"Do not use this vehicle for snowplowing.
Installing a snowplow may affect vehicle
handling. This may cause the driver to lose
control of the vehicle and could result in
serious vehicle damage or personal injury."
My CC LE 4x4 with big tow package tows my '28 boat like is not even there.
The boat weights 8200 lbs and has disc brakes on all 4 wheels.
Yep. I tow my Four Winns 22 ft cuddy cabin boat and trailer (5800lbs total package towed weight) and I don't even know it's there unless I look in the mirror.
I'm going to Fla at the end of August to pick up a 27' Regal cruiser with twin Vortec 4.3 engines. Weight of boat and trailer is around 7800 lbs dry. This is what I bought the Titan for, and the dealer said "no problem" when I gave him the specs. Guess what? If this truck breaks down from towing this boat, I'm going to return to the dealer and there will be an ***-whipping like hasn't been seen around here.
too bad i don't live and play in an area that gets any snow.
Snow plowing is hard on light trucks. If you are going to do alot of snow plowing, it is better to get something with a solid front axle. I have visions of the Titan's little aluminum front differential disintegrating with the truck chained up, in 4 LO and pushing alot of snow.

Uhhh, I don't think he is going to do any snow plowing.
When researching for my truck purchase, plowing was a consideration. (decided to forego that capability)
The GMC 1/2 ton was available with a 'plow prep pkg' adder. (same frame used)
Several sources all confirmed the F150 frame is upgraded for their plow prep version (long bed only available), among other things.
Although with a light weight version plow, and plowing only my 900' level driveway, I think I'd end up regretting placing so much stress on my Titan. I can just see the warrantee claim being denied.

Re: Titan towing
I own a 2004 Titan King Cab LE with towing package. My wife and I are looking at 2 trailers:
Cherokee 27L which has a hitch weight of 710lbs and a total dry weight of 6820lbs.
The other is a Cherokee 25KS with hitch weight of 820lbs and total dry weight of 7000.
Can these be towed by my Titan as is? If not, are there modifications I can do to safely tow them?
Thaks for your help. The LA RV show is now and we would like to purchase one of the above this weekend.

I would go with the 25 footer, it's the legnth that will get you before the weight.
Second, forget dry weights.... Look at GVWR for the trailer, cause that will be the true weight of the trailer behind your truck.
You will need, Equal-I-Zer or Reece dual cam hitch, Prodigy brake controller, and possibly air bags.
I'll be at the show Sunday. I go every year, it's like a drug for me...
Oh and way to bring a thread up from the dead..

Has anyone done any serious towing with the truck yet? I've been talking to friends and I'm getting a little nervous about getting the Titan. I know it's a great truck but, I'm hearing I should get a deisel to tow a 28-30' travel trailer that will weigh around 7,000lbs dry weight. I'm sure the Titan will pull it. I just want to be safe and they say with a deisel I won't even know it's back there. I live in south FLorida where it's flat but, if I want to go to the mountains some day I don't want any problems.
Let me know what some of you seasoned towers' think...
Thanks
I was in the same boat you were just a few weeks ago. I bought a 26ft Thor Tahoe toy hauler and was getting nervous when it came time to tow to the local mountains. Loaded up I was well over 7000lbs and some of these grades were 7 and 8 %. I was looking to get a diesel but thought I would try the titan to see if it could do it. Not only could it do it but it did it with ease. Dont get me wrong. With that much weight you definitely know something is back there but at no time did I ever feel that it was too heavy. Just make sure you get airbags and you will be ok. I lost count of how many chevy and fords I passed going up the hills.
