Payload Question

Cars.com reports a payload of 2063lbs for a 2008 Titan LE Crewcab. My door sticker says 1485. Why the descrepency? What could be done to increase the payload? I am concerned about the hitch weight of my trailer.

2,062-pounds for Crew Cab and 2,012-pounds for King Cab. Changes were made to the rear axle and suspension to accommodate one ton of cargo. The rear axle has been beefed up with a larger diameter shaft and upgraded leaf spring seats and brackets. Rear leaf spring rates have also been changed to provide better damping. The rear suspension also receives stronger upper and lower shock brackets.
here you go!

What's the GVWR of the truck, also on that sticker?

Re: Payload Question

I believe that the decrease is due to the 20 inch tires. Does anyone out there have an 08 without the 20in GoodYears?

What year is your truck. My 06 has a 1400 pound payload. I wish I had the payload of the newer trucks.

Re: Payload Question

I don't have a payload stated on my door sticker and don't remember seeing one on other trucks, usually you get the trucks GVWR and because the true empty weight can very the payload isn't posted on that sticker...usually

I thought that too until I looked a little closer at the Tire Loading/Pressure sticker. For my 06 CC SE 2WD with BT, it says I only have 1213 lbs of cargo capacity... Could it be possible that it is weighed from the factory then printed on the sticker after it is on the truck?

Ya, that does not make since as you should have a higher payload.

I can only wonder if your truck was an early one built in 07 that was not up-specced yet. That does not make any since either. IIRC the payload went up to ~ 2000 pounds on the 08 MY.

Re: Payload Question

It's all about your tires. You have to add the back weight of your truck + the amount of weight you want to haul. That's why duallys have 4 rear tires. Not for traction, but for load bearing.
