You have the non-tow gears(no trans temp gauge) and are towing the trailer described, you are over the rating for a Titan with those gears...not by much but you're there...
If your truck is fully loaded(driver, passenger(s) fuel, baggage, tongue weight) at 6400 lbs, your left over CGVW would allow you to tow a trailer weighing:
XE 5200 lbs
SE/LE 6400 lbs
Still think you're not over-weight?

Oh yeh....I replaced the screw that holds on the mirror with a trick black oxide one that nobody will see or care about...
My Titan does not have the big tow package but the owners manual still shows 9400 pounds tow rating. A Trailer Life tow vehicle guide has no notes about the Titan other than the 9400 pound tow rating for a 4x4 KC. It has no notes with different ratings for the big tow package.
From what I have been told the only differences with big tow are the mirrors, tranny temp gauge, and rear end gears. The tranny cooler, engine cooling, and suspension are the same.
My Titan tows 5800 pounds up the grades of the Smokies with no problem. Downshifting seems normal for the grades and it never lugs.
When matching a truck to trailer my philosophy is to always err to the conservative side.
Are my assumptions above wrong?

You are fine. If you have an XE, your kinda close IMO, but still safe. If you have an SE or LE, your well below the max of 7400 or 7200 lbs. The payload is what you really need to watch out for. Its much easier to reach the max payload in a half-ton than it is to reach the max towing capacity.
The BT trucks come with the mirrors (very helpful by the way), tranny temp gage, different rear end ratio, bigger battery, and hitch. Everything else is the same, so you are pretty much right on the money with your assumptions.
Your manual does have the correct tow ratings for non-BT trucks. If you look near the back of the manual, there is a chart with all the info on it. loufish's numbers are correct, my 06 owners manual numbers match right up with them.

I'm sorry I forgot to mention that if you have the Off-Road package you get the same gears as the tow package AND same ratings...
Either way your 5800 lbs puts you right in step for any Titan...

WOW... didn't think I would get this type of response, thanks guys. Here is more info. about my TITAN and the TRAILER.
The TITAN is rated GVWR at 6800pds
Trailer is rated GVWR at 8000pds, Trailer is 27ft Fleetwood Terry Quantum.
I use weight distribution bars when towing.. and no this isn't a weekend thing towing up hills like this.
After looking at my TITAN, it's just a normal 2wd drive, couldn't see if it had the tranny cooler, but I'm sure I'm not looking in the right place either.
As for weight... the only thing in my TT are some clothes, a 27inch TV and some food... I tow it DRY.
In the TITAN, it just me 270pds, my wife (never put a womans weight, lol)... and two kids (90pds) and full tank of GAS... 150pds?.. So I think weight wise I'm in the GREEN.
Thinking about doing some MOD's anyway, like K&N Filter, Flowmaster F40 Exhaust, perhaps some Gibson Headers... what do you think?
