Trailer lights do not work

I have a 06 Nissan Titan and put on a trailer hitch and bought the 7 pin adpator. Connecting the trailer, trailer lights do not work. The plug is not getting any juice. I've read several posts related to this topic, but can't identify the problem. I checked the fuse box under the hood on the passenger side and there are no fuses at all for the fuse slots that are labeled for trailer lights. Is this were the fuses are located for the trailer lights? I've read in some posts that there is a fuse box located under the dash on the driver side for trailer lights. I can't say that I know much about truck repair.

Thanks for the help.

Also, what fuses should be used - 10, 15, 20?

Thanks again.

Re: Trailer lights do not work

When I bought my 7 to 6 and 4 pin adapters it switched the wires to the trailer. Mine made the hot wire from the truck go to the trailer brakes so the brakes were locked on and that made it interesting when I started dragging the trailer with the brakes locked up so you may want to check your adapter. I believe the 3 fuses for trailers are under the hood but it should say in the manual. Welcome to TT

Re: Trailer lights do not work

You need three relays and one fuse. The relays can be purchased at your local dealership for one arm and half a leg.

And somehow the fuse will mysteriously come up missing - or at least mine did the last time I hooked up a trailer. I guess there must be a fuse gremlin out there somewhere because I never found it.

Re: Trailer lights do not work

If you have to buy relays, save yourself some green and buy them from U-Haul, much cheaper.

We need to make a sticky for this wiring crap.

I know where the 3 relays go. Where will the fuse be used? Thanks.

It will be in the fuse box not the relay box, on the bottom row (toward the front of the truck) if I remember correctly.

Re: Trailer lights do not work

I tried a connecter from Napa and everything worked except the tail lights. I had to tow with it at night and had no problems but I was nervous about police. Is one of the relays or the fuse just for tail lights?
