Question for you Towing Guru's?

I have a 07 CC 4x4 with Factory tow package and I added a brake controller. I am towing a 18' Car Hauler trailer around 800 miles empty and then loading up an old MG and a variety of other things and heading back the 800. How would you guys recommend towing, 4th or D, Tow Haul or not, most looking for when empty I usually tow in 4th with Tow Haul selected when I have my 18' Stock Trailer even if it is empty.

From Louisville, KY to Binghamton, NY if Terrain comes into play.

Re: Question for you Towing Guru's?

Unloaded, you can probably use 5th every once in a while and won't really need the tow mode. It won't hurt anything, but you probably won't notice the difference.

Loaded up with the MG, I'd go ahead and use the tow mode and do most of the towing in 4th.

This, if it's an enclosed hauller. If it's not you won't have nearly the wind resistance and even loaded you might get away with some 5th gear pulling. If it's lugging, not letting the torque converter lock, or searching for gears too much, go to 4th.

We WILL need pics of the MG.

I agree with the above post! Keeping your eye on the tranny temp gauge will let you know if you need to drop a gear!

Re: Question for you Towing Guru's?

FYI...All Titans come with 2 coolers, the standard in the radiator and an aux cooler mounted in front of the radiator...

When empty, if it pulls 5th on the flat and the converter stays locked, it's all good, but if not drop it down to 4th for cruising and 3rd for climbing...

Empty, if the truck hunts for gears go to 4th. Loaded, switch to 4th with tow mode on.
