U-haul tow hitch?

I need a tow hitch and found that the U-hauls are the least expensive- about $140. Anybody running u-haul brand - likes? dislikes? Is there anything out there at a lower price? I'm cheap I know, but I will rarely be using it.

Re: U-haul tow hitch?

The one U-Haul hitch I have ever had/used was of fine quality. Nice and heavy. It looks like their prices have come down quite a bit.

Re: U-haul tow hitch?

Make sure they provide all the necessary relays to run all the trailer lights.

Re: U-haul tow hitch?

If it is $140 including the relays it's a great deal. Otherwise, go with a factory hitch that looks better and should come with the relays. I paid $75 for the relays at my local dealer. You may need a wiring harness as well.

A Uhaul hitch should be fine, I just suspect it's $140 for the hitch x$ for a harness plus the relays.

IIRC uhaul sells the 3 relays for $25.

Re: U-haul tow hitch?

i got there tow hitch on mine and I love it. to me it looks better than the stock one. Plus was cheaper than the OEM one. They also have a great warranty as well. They will replace it if it ever gets messed up and the guy was like if someone rear ends you and it bends then they will replace it for free. I was like cool but if someone rear ends me that bad I think Im going to have more on my mind than getting a new hitch put on.lol

Re: U-haul tow hitch?

Yeah they offer a lifetime warranty on their hitches..at least the one that was put on the Bronco back in 2005. A hitch is a hitch, it's metal and does what it's suppost to. However the UHAUL sticker they slap on there is pretty ugly lol

Re: U-haul tow hitch?

I have had a U Haul hitch on my Titan since the first week I had it in Aug of 05. I think I paid $109 for the hitch and around $40 for the relays, and $25 for the wiring pigtail from behind bumper to a 7pin RV plug that I mounted in the bumper. At that point the dealer wanted around $300 for the hitch package but it came with everything. I think the U Haul it tighter to the bumper than the Nissan hitch, but the Nissan hitch looks nicer. Tow rating is the same. Nissan hitch has a place to mount the RV plug, A 35" spare will fit on the stock wheel with a U Haul hitch for sure, don't know about the factory hitch.

Re: U-haul tow hitch?

I was looking into the same thing. The Nissan bumper on my truck is up to 10,000 pull. I want a class4 hitch at least. I've towed some heavy shiz with just the bumper but now I want a tow packege for the looks. Another guy I know got a class 3 hitch from u haul for around 100. I picked up my wiring harness from Napa for 30. I didn't have tail lights though.

No bumper is rated for 10,000 lbs.

Quartz is correct. According to the 2007 Nissan Titan Towing Guide the Titan bumper hitch is a Class III hitch with a maximum trailer weight of 5,000 lbs and a maximum tongue weight of 500 lbs.

I am assuming you mean no Titan bumper is rated for 10,000 lbs. I have seen many 1000/10000 bumpers but never on a 1/2 ton truck.

Re: U-haul tow hitch?

I bought one from Uhaul canada today for 139 but I didn't get the relays wasnt sure if i needed them all there is 3 i think in the packet.

Anyone tell me or give me a diagram as to where these go. (I'm not the most mechanically minded)

Also why can't i goto my local princess auto and get the relays for like 5 bucks each they sell?

Re: U-haul tow hitch?

Just don't have them install it. I rented a trailer to someone who just had Uhaul put on a hitch on their Cherokee. Needless to say they lost the trailer 2 miles away because 2 only bolts were installed, also they didnt hook up to brake light circuit, only turns and parking.
