Firestone airbags and procomp 6" lift??????????

Hi, everyone today I got my firestone airbags riderite kit in the mail, I tried to install them but looks like the top of the airbag couldn't reach the place where it suppose to be bolt it to. Does anyone has firestone airbag installed with the pro-comp stage 1 lift? It probably needs some kind of spacers between the axles and the bottom of the airbags, but what size spacers and tapered or non tapered type? Any inputs will be appreciated.

Re: Firestone airbags and procomp 6" lift??????????

I think you're only option will be to have an aluminum spacer made with a hole in the center...then use a longer bolt for the lower mount.

The spacer should be the same exact thickness as your axle block (rear spacer).

...i.e., if the rear block is 3", have a 3" tall spacer made/machined (same diameter as the base of the airbag), and use a ~4" long bolt instead of the provided 1" long bolt for the lower mount.

I assume the rear bracket will sit in the correct spot, and touches the axle like it should?

Which ones did you get?? Do they have any adapters available??

Firestone Industrial Products Co. ~RIDE-RITE™ Air Helper Spring

I know that Custom Offroad off I-40 and Meridian sells helper springs and can help you get what you need to make them work.

I had the same problem, you need to order the spacers from firestone for the trucks with the lift. hope that helps.

Update: I ordered the spacers and installed the airbags today. So far it's working wonderfully. Thanks for the info

Re: Firestone airbags and procomp 6" lift??????????

I am looking at installing the Firestone airbags on my '05 Titan and it looks like there is a break line mount on the axle right where the airbags should go. Did anybody have a problem with this? Does someone have a picture of the installed airbag from in front of the axle?

Re: Firestone airbags and procomp 6" lift??????????

^^^ The lower mount sits about an half-inch above the brake lines...

EDIT: And it's held in place by hugging the U-bolts, and then sandwiched onto the axle with a lower bracket.

It's a well designed kit, for a no-drill option. I would have preferred to drill one hole, rather than use the "J-hook" on the upper mount...but it works well as-is..mounts very solid.

Thank you for the input. I actually just got an email from tech support at firestone and they said the same thing. This is all good to know.

Re: Firestone airbags and procomp 6" lift??????????

Is the lower bracket supposed to fit around the U-Bolts for the leaf springs? My lower bracket looks like it needs to move out toward the leaf spring more but it won't fit around the U-Bolts? Anybody else have this problem?
