Hi all, newb, first post, picked up my 09 XE CC LB 4wd in majestic blue a couple days ago. I got the preferred and max utility packages, with the intention of towing my Jeep loaded on the car trailer.
Being the detail person I am, I started going through the truck last night looking and learning. After reading up on the specs over and over from the Nissan website before ordering, I figured I knew what to expect.
First thing that caught my eye was the 650cca battery, as opposed to the 710 listed in the specs. I then started looking for the aux trans cooler as mentioned in the earlier years' Titans -- didn't see one, but I might have totally missed it.
It obviously has the hitch, 7 pin harness, and I already wired up my Primus using the pigtail in the glovebox. I checked and the axle has the 3.36 gears listed on the label.
I'm looking for a little validation that I'm good to go. My previous ride was loosing the trans, probably due to towing at or slightly above the limit, and I dont want to go through that with the new Titan.
Lastly, I'm still in break-in, no problem getting to 750+ miles by next Thursday before I leave on my first towing trip. I was going to drag an empty trailer to/from work for a couple days and maybe take the loaded trailer the last day (about 30 miles each direction) before leaving next Thursday.
Thanks for hearing out a newb with a paranoid tendancy,
Iz
I'm at around 800 miles, getting ready to leave tomorrow afternoon for the first 200 mile leg with a loaded car trailer -- approx 5500#, heading into the mountains of PA.
My last question, of which I know it won't hurt to do, but should I do a first oil change before I roll out?
I have to take the Titan back in to the dealer next week, looking at the slow back windows, and I will ask about the battery then.
How did you get SE wheels on the XE, must be part of the max utility package.
You are fine to tow, keep speeds to the limit and don't start off fast, just take it easy. change the oil at 3k and put some good synthetic in it.
Not sure about the battery but the extra power is only needed whne hauling a TT that requires 12v juice to power up the gas/electric fridge and MOST of the time a TT has a onboard battery. But if your specs call fro the bigger battery the dealer needs to install one.
Tow in 4th and on hills just drop to 3rd without giving it anymore gas an you will be fine.

Its the preferred package I think, you get a chrome grille and different wheels. Not sure from what the wheels come from, but I know its not the 08+ SE, im guessing its the older SE. Not clue whats different on the interior, id guess cd changer

I don't think any Titan ever made had an Auxiliary Trans Cooler. They all have the same thing, which is built into the radiator.
All titans have a trany cooler it is sandwiched between the radiator and a/c condensor. The trany fluid pumps to the radiator first, then out of the radiator and into the cooler and then back to the trany. I wouldn't lie to ya

it's a new 09 XE with older wheels. I bet the dealer threw the old wheels on there for a selling point. Maybe even the chrome grill. I am too lazy to go to the Nissan site to look up what XE packages are available.

i've towed our race car quite extensively and the only thing to be wary of is stopping distance other then that i find the truck a very competent tower. i wish you many happy miles.

Wheels are in the preferred package, a requirement for the max utility (tow) package. Nissan lists them as XE specific wheels, different from SE/LE, and yes, they are 18's, so I don't believe they were leftovers from previous years.
Interior is basic, no center console, column shifter instead of console shift. Different gauge pack and the XE doesn't get a trans temp gauge even with the utility/tow package.
Arrived at destination this evening without a problem. Titan towed easily, and I didn't push it at all. After a day of wheeling tomorrow, tearing the jeep up again as is typical, it will be a haul back to the beach.
