Electrical problem with brake controller

I have read most of the posts and havent seen this problem Iam experiencing... I have an 06 titan with the BT package. I purchased a primus brake controller by Tekonsha, wired it into the nissan harness that plugs into the elec. brake controll plug-in under dash. Everything seems straight forward but now it says it is connected when there is no trailer. When a trailer is plugged in it still says connected but the trailer brakes do not work(trailer brakes work fine when plugged into chevy, not prob. with trailer). All trailer lights work properly. Some times it says it is disconnected when you plug a trailer in. While towing if you turn on driving lights the controller says trailer is disconnected. Now for a new twist, the brake lights (truck) stay on no matter what, this happened about a week after controller install. I cannot get brake lights to turn off, had to disconect battery. All relays are there, not sure if they are functioning properly however. could this be it? something else? anyone else had this problem?
Thanks for your help I need it!

Re: Electrical problem with brake controller

Did you run the adapter harness from Tekonsha, or did you wire it up?....You might have some crossed connections...

Check all that first...

You might have a bad controller back feeding the truck brake curcuit...or issues above...

Re: Electrical problem with brake controller

Well start by unplugging the brake controller. If your brake lights (truck) go out, there is a crossed connection somewhere (as Lou stated).

Re: Electrical problem with brake controller

So here it is, semi simple as I expected... The lights stayed on because the wire was pinched when I put the lower dash panel back on(my bad). Trailer controller had to be completely rewired to rear plug in. For those tow weiry I just towed a 7000 # TT up Teton Pass (do a search) 10% grade and very long... Very impressed compared to other 1/2 ton trucks I have pulled trailers up pass with less.
