Hello all. I have heard & was wondering if anyone out here can maybe give some detailed instructions on possibly using my wireing harness to recharge auxilary batteries in my Trailer. I have 2 Marine batteries I use an inverter on & I heard that it was easily possible to use my trucks alternator (a pin on the 7 wire plug already) to charge the batteries in my trailer while I am driving (I currantly use my battery canrger at home & then take with me) to keep them charged up. Does anyoine know how this would be possible & what I would need to accomplish this little task? If my truck is already wired from my alternator to the 7 pin (someplace) It does sound like it would not take too much. Anyone have the know how to do this for me? Thanks everyone.
Your truck all ready supplies the convertor the 12VDC it neds to disturbute the power to all 12v things in the TT. Some convertors will and some don't charge the battery on the 12v side. When they do it is a slow trickle charge. I guess if you wanted to you could install an invertor somewhere that is powered by 12v, have a battery tender hooked to the invertor and then hook that to your battery you could. Most newer TT have the better of the two convertors. Remember your 7-pin connection only puts out the 12v when the truck is running or in ON position.

What type of trailer is it??? If it's a Travel Trailer or Toy Hauler, it should already be charging. If it's not, then you'll need to look at the trailer's wiring because it should be charging from the truck.
No its only an enclosed trailer that I have batteries in to run a light inside & a Car stereo. Nothing fancy right now hopeing to get a Toy hauer maybe in a few years. Right now a Red Neck Toy Hauler. Just looking to help the recharhe of batteries. I thought it was not that complicated. Trickle charge is fine better than no charge. If trickle is all I can get that is fine.
There should be a way to wire up your trailer plug to charge the batteries. Any local trailer shop should be able to help. Also, you'll need to know that the Titan automatically disconnects the connection when the engine is off so the trailer doesn't run the truck battery dead.
You can always get the solar powered battery charger set up. That way your truck won't have to be running to charge. You could also get a Honda quite small generator to run your stuff.

The charging circuit on the 7 pin connector is for helping to keep charged batteries charged...It's not so good at charging them...You would be good getting 15 amps to the batteries, multiply that times the amount of time you tow and that will give you some idea of the overall charge you could get.

Oh yeh....I replaced the screw that holds on the mirror with a trick black oxide one that nobody will see or care about...
My trailer uses the 12v to charge the emergency breakaway circuit for the trailer brakes, it has a little circuit board that keeps it from over-charging. The solar panel sounds like a great idea, too. You could put a pretty good sized one up on the roof.

The #4 connector should charge the battery, at least I hope it will because I plan to do the same on my BBQ trailer to recharge the battery.
I've seen a digram that shows the pinout somewhere. It's either in the owner's manual or stamped onto the Nissan wire plug cover, I don't remember which.
Just grab a test light, start the truck (leave all lights off) and see which one is hot. Should be the only one.
