Need some help wiring my brake control please!

So i come to find out *I* am now towing our car to the races this weekend with my 08 Titan. My friend hands me a brake controller and says to wire it up. It is a Hopkins Unit and was brand new. Whatever. So now I need to hook this up and want to make sure I get it right.

So I get the instructions and it has:
White Wire - Ground
Blue Wire - Trailer Electric Brakes
Black Wire - Positive Terminal on battery
Red Wire - Cold Side of stop lamp switch

The harness that came with my truck has:
R / G - BRK SIG
B - GND
BR / W - BRK OUT
R / L - ILL
R - Fused B+

So I got the ground figured out and figure the positive goes to R - Fused B+ (right?) but what about the rest? Anyone have one of these or can lend a hand?

Thanks!
Rich

Re: Need some help wiring my brake control please!

Going through a couple pages online, it looks like the Tekonsha products are similar in wiring. Would this work?

Red - Black - +12 Volts
Red with Green Tracer - Red - Stoplight
Black - White - Ground
Brown with White Tracer - Blue - Trailer Brakes
Red with Blue Tracer - NA - Illumination

Re: Need some help wiring my brake control please!

Look under the dash(under the steering wheel near the parking brake) and there should be a plug that has a thing attached to it that says brake controller. Then in most cases you have to buy an adapter and then its "plug and play". But that's assuming you have the hitch wired up...

Re: Need some help wiring my brake control please!

The adapter plug needs to be ordered and I need this for tomorrow night so I have to wire it manually. I have the big tow package and I have the Nissan supplied elect brake jumper plug so I am trying to wire that to the standard plug that came with the unit. i think the post above "looks" good to me but would like a second opinion before I plug it in.

Re: Need some help wiring my brake control please!

Big thanks again to everyone for the quick responses. The weekend was a success and the Titan hauled the car and trailer and all of our crap with ease. Of course when we got the trailer hooked up we found the brakes on the trailer to be shot so I didn't even use them or the controller. Over 65 and I felt some shimmy and sway but I think that could have been just the crappy trailer we had. Not one issue though. Thanks again guys! MPG was also phenomenal. I average 13.8-14.2 MPG on a weekly basis. hauling almost 4500lbs (assuming) I got 13.1 MPG there and 13.2 on the way back. Awesome!
