lifted tian and towing

i know this has been covered in terms of lifted trucks and towing, it seems as though i should have no problem with what i tow but i want to make sure. i'm going to lift my truck 6" and put it on 35's. i have the big tow on my 06 cc se. i tow a 2 place clam shell trailer with 2 snowmobiles in it. once in a while i put a third sled in the bed of my truck. i know the lift and tires will hurt alittle but i should be okay correct? i see guys pulling 7k trails with a lift, mine can't be more that 2500-3000lbs. the trailer is aluminum weighing maybe 1200 lbs and the sleds fully gassed weight maybe 650lbs each. i just don't want to break things, i can deal with not driving 90 mph on the highway to get to the trails.

Re: lifted tian and towing

You should be fine. I had a 6.5" lift and 35's on my Titan and pulled my 6500lb. toyhauler all over the state. The mileage sucked ***, but the truck did fantastic.

Re: lifted tian and towing

I've been pulling my 6500-lbs TT just fine, my tires are still 33's. 3,000-4,000 lbs is barely noticeable behind these trucks.

I pull my 6k lbs. boat almost every weekend, half the time, I forget it's back there...

Re: lifted tian and towing

so mine should be a breeze even with the larger tires. i'm more worried about breaking things. i have had the rear end problems like most but have also had the front end go and the front drive shaft. i'm concerned about the added stress thats all. i know the truck has the balls to pull it.

Re: lifted tian and towing

As long as the trailer's hitch weight is less than 900-lbs, you'll be fine.

If you think that you're worried, you should've seen me looking into if the Armada's IRS could handle an 800-lbs hitch weight AFTER I already bought the Travel Trailer. I was sweating if I screwed up or not because NOONE uses a Lifted Armada to pull a Travel Trailer, but it's all good to go. - hehe

Re: lifted tian and towing

i don't know how much the hitch weight or tongue weight will be, but you can move these small sled trailers around very easily by hand.

Re: lifted tian and towing

You're not gonna have any problems then. My tongue jack snapped a 2x6 in 1/2 when I tried to use a board under the foot.

That tow weight should not give you any problems. You will probably have more stress from simply adding 35's and lifting then you would from towing that weight. Honestly, you will be under 3000# total weight, and if you load the proper 10% tongue weight you should not have any problems even in a non-bt Titan. Good luck!

Re: lifted tian and towing

I have bt, so i'm not worried anymore, seems like i should be able to rip this baby with little effort, just some extra gas.

Re: lifted tian and towing

Keep in mind that too much weight behind the trailer axle creates sway. If it starts to sway at all, even at 60-mph, stop and move more weight to in front of or on top of the trailer axle.

Also make sure that you have a big enough drop shank to keep the trailer horizontal. My shanks are all 6" drop. Other than that, you shouldn't even be able to tell it's there.

Re: lifted tian and towing

i will be sure to get a larger drop. the sleds really can only sit in one place on the trailer, the are held down with ties that sit in specific spots. i can probably only move the 5" front to back.
