Can I tow this without an issue?

Im looking to take a road trip next week from CT to Maine with a few bikes. Im planning on taking 4 bikes. I have an 08' CC SB BT 4x4. They are all sport bikes which weight on the high end about 450lbs each. One will be in the bed. The other three will be loaded onto a 6x10 heavy duty utility trailer (not some LOWES crap). Two bikes will be loaded front to back on the rear of the trailer and the last bike will be loaded side to side at the front of the trailer. Id say the trailer is about 2000lbs. I've weighed the tongue weight of the trailer loaded with 3 bikes and I think it was about 200lbs. In theory the trailer is well under the limits but I didnt know if adding 450lbs to the bed while pulling the trailer messes with my capacities.

Re: Can I tow this without an issue?

Anything you put in the bed or cabin become part of your payload capacity, in addition to your trailer's tongue weight. I think your '08 has a higher capacity than the pre '08 models, so if I'm reading your weights correctly, you've got about 650 lbs of your capacity used up. Still plenty of room to spare to put you in the driver's seat.

Load that trailer so that your tongue weight is about 10% of your total trailer weight.

Sounds like a hefty load on the trailer.
You might check into brakes.

Your truck can handle it.

It would be nice to have trailerbrakes, but you got an easy tow...relax and enjoy!
Nice part is that the trailer isn't a huge brick on wheels...

I used to tow about 3000 lbs, about 400 lbs tongue weight and a 300+lb bike in the bed...On flat ground I set the CC at about 65-67 in 5th got just a hair above 13 mpg....

Re: Can I tow this without an issue?

Trailer brakes aren't an option. Its a single axle utility trailer. I've towed the thing with 3 bikes with my 02 Pathfinder. It was probaly very close to the load capacity of it and you knew everytime you braked and accelerated it was behind you. Trailer and bikes are total under 4000 lbs no problem. Tongue weight is about 200 lbs i think. If this truck can tow close to 10,000lbs I figure Im good to go. I just didnt know if loading another 450lbs bike in the bed was over kill but it seems to be fine. Thanx everyone!
