Dank is possibly either the dumbest poster I have seen in some time or a troll.

And while the engines are the same in all Titans and Armadas (baring a few tweaks for a few extra HP in later years)......Big Tow is not "have heavier parts for the extreme drivin, and oh and big tow has trasmission cooling system". What are the heavier parts? One big reason for the Big Tow's increased tow rating is the lower gears (higher numerically).

we have different shocks that goes on, different brake actuators and brake boosters, Tires, shocks, transmission coolin system. that's why I said thoses things, all of them have the lower gear ratio withthe tow mode button.
and I survived another weekend of camping, traveling back and forth.

See, the thing is "young dank", you said you didn't have Big Tow, but it appears you do. What's the scoop?

Re: Heavy Towing

I added the Big Tow mirrors to my Armada too. Unfortunately no Armada came from the factory with them. Hey, young dank, be safe when towing that beast. It's a nice looking trailer by the way, what model is it?

Just to clarify there is no difference in tire load rating, shocks or transmission cooling from the factory. ALL Titans have transmission coolers in them and the big tow package gives you the temp guage. All the shocks and tires are the same between big tow or not. Only the off-road package gives different shocks or tire options. The difference is the gear ratio. The big tow is geared lower for more torque. The tow mode on the titan is just to change shift points in the transmission. Nissan was quoted as saying it ( tow mode) is to have the titan shift feel the same as towing or not. The shift points are only changed in first thru third gear. I have had 5 RV's now (couldn't find the one I wanted) ranging from 18' to 32' TT's and now have a 5er 28'. This is just to show I have done extensive research on towing with my Titan.

My question is this - Should I consider airbags (I like the Firestone Sport-Rite airbags) with the setup I've outlined below?

I've decided on a Komfort 23t travel trailer.
4600lb unloaded weight, 780lb hitch weight. Those are mfr stated weights, of course, as I don't have the trailer yet. I'm figuring between 5500-6000lbs when loaded for a full week of boondocking...

I've got a Tekonsha Prodigy brake controller, I've ordered a Reese straight line WD/Dual Cam sway control hitch setup.

I plan on removing the two 12v batteries on the front of the a frame and installing either 4 or 6 6volt t125's, so a bit more tongue weight there.

To all you guys who tow heavy loads, should I get airbags?
I'll tell you from my experience with them is that I would not be w/o them. There is a big difference when towing with a little sag in the back and driving in the "stock" position. Espescially with wind. I have done it both ways. The also help in distributing weight of the trailer as well. I have found a great increase in handleing with mine. Just another point of view. I now have a pin weight on my 5er of about 1250 wet with a 300 lb hitch and the airbags make this no problem.

ok. I'll go to work and ask, but the I know for sure that there are different brake actuators and brake boosters because I personally install them. I have a plain jane actuator which has a letter on it. J. the ones that come on the tow packages are L for 4WD and M for 2WD. My brake booster is plain jane. the brake booster and actuators coincide. All the Armadas and Trucks with curtain Air bags get the B actuators and C brake boosters. The strongest we got. trust me I know. back in 06 05, the actuator letter was A. Letters change with engineering changes. brake pedals too. I have adjustable brakes and accelerator pedal. I assumed we put in different transmission cooling systems because we offer an after market for them. I think they might come standard now but not back then. thats why I said that. probably stupid me though. plus if you research at a dealership, they don't know squat. Figured that out when I bout mine. didn't let them know I worked there and he tried to make me pay for step rails sayin they added it when it's done at the factory in UNDERBODY. freakin liar.
