Has anyone ever towed their Nissan Titan? I need to bring mine home, its 2 hours away. I have a 2010 ford expedition to tow it with, and the largest dolly that Uhaul has does not fit the titan. Titan's wheels are too wide. Anyone have any other suggestions?? I'm in a bind, i need to get it towed today!!!
The Titan is too heavy for any of their equipment. Their trailers and dollies have a 5300lb and 3900lb load limits. You might see if any of the local equipment rental shops rent out pickup or tractor haulers that might work.
I've towed cars and trucks for quite awhile and I know its not the cheapest option but having a flatbed go out and pick it up and bring it home is the best option. It's up on the truck, the wheels aren't turning and you don't have to worry bout towing it. Just my .02
Uhaul does not have anything big enough. We actually rented the biggest dolly they had, drove the titan onto it and the wheels of titan were only half on where the tires should go. We strapped it in anyways, straps barely fit, and drove it a mile to see how it would go and the truck fell off the dolly!!!! straps still intact. So, that didnt work.
Then remembered a local rental co that has trailers to haul dozers. Went there and got a open trailer. The titan is drivable, but its salvaged (no frame or sus damage) but its not registered or inspected. Drove the titan onto the trailer, strapped it in, and pulled it with a 2010 expedition 2 hours. Was very glad when we arrived home!!!
Guess what I just learned today. A Service Advisor told me he looked into the framing and found that the Titan is actually built on a 3/4-ton frame. I'd like to find that in writing somewhere. - hehe
Yes, Fell Off!!!! Pretty scary. We had to put the truck in neutral when towing it bc the back wheels needed to turn so there was no way to lock the front wheels. Thank GOD those straps held on tight enough for us to turn left, dragging the titan into a parking lot allowing us to stop and figure out plan B!!!
So, don't use the dollys at UHAUL to pull a Titan LE. Go rent a trailer at a bulldozer rental store!!!!

I thought you were supposed to back the car up on the dolly, put it in nuetral and then use the parking brake?

yeah... the car, not a fullsize pickup
unless of course it's a FWD car... so you mean to tell me you were towing that thing with the rear wheels on the ground and the driveline not disconnected? sounds like it falling from the dolly did you a favor... even in neutral the tranny is still turning.
