Its rather simple to find and installation spot for an air compressor, but there are a few do's and donts. Its really just running the wires and lines that can be tedious and time consuming. I read one, or a few posts about installing it in the engine bay. I would recommend against that although its not always harmful. The reason is that if you use the compressor often, it heats up like anything else, and the engine bay is already hot. This poses a possibility of an over heated compressor and a shorter life span. Like i said, its not an absolute no-no, but there are safer spots. And if you invested in an Firestone on-board air compressor, its probably because you're going to use it often. Trucks that need helper springs, air bags or suspension help dont need a failure in the middle of work day.
I seen a post for under the seat, thats probably a better suggestion and its where i put mine. You can avoid air ducts from blowing on by turning the fans on and following the current. Again, heat (winter climate guys only) can be an enemy to electric motors.
