Hello all, I can’t seem to find what I am looking for to convert my factory tow package plug into a 4 pin to hook up to my fishing boat. I have purchased a "7 RV blade to 4-wire flat" adapter from Wal-Mart tonight, and it definitely will not fit - almost like two female ends but not exactly. I have attached a pic of sometime that looks exactly like what I purchased.
I am not sure why it does not work. That is exactly what I use when I tow my utility trailer. Does your boat trailer have a five pin connector. I have seen those on many newer boat trailers. If not, your trailer wiring may have the wrong end. You said it was like two females. I have seen some trailers before that were wired with the wrong end. Can you post a pic of what wont fit with the connector so that we may see what you are working with. I am assuming that it will not fit in the trailer plug but if you are talking about the plug on the truck, I am not sure why. Make sure you put the part of the adaptor that sticks off of the plug toward the cover on the truck because that little part that sticks out catches on the lid of the adapter and connects it. Geez, it is hard to put into words what I am talking about here. Let me know if this was any help.

Still relatively stock but I am working on it.

I understand what you mean, it is hard to put into words what you are trying to say... I ran into the same problem!
Here are a few pictures of what my plug looks like under the truck. I might be crazy, but the plug that I first posted (which I purchased) will not plug into it?!?
I don't think you have the 7-pin connector. I think your pic shows the plug on the harness that the 7-pin plugs into. I think you need the 7-pin and then your 7/4 adapter plugs into the 7-pin.
I don't know much about towing, so I might be wrong.
They dont make anything that will plugin into that factory wiring plug to give me a flat 4 pin output without jumping through 2 different adaptors?
The kit at the link I posted will give you both 7 pin and 4 pin connections. Don't know if you need the tow relays or not. Did you install tow relays yet?
My factory tow package came with the hitch, relays, and 7-pin connector installed. To connect to a 4-pin, I just need to use the adapter like in your first photo.
The factory 7-pin has the hinged cover and is to the left of the receiver hitch in this pic:

I just ran outside and checked my relay box... I am missed two of the three relays needed for towing... I guess the guy that had the truck before me had no idea what he was doing and gave up, I can see that he tried to splice into the back factory plug to wire up a 4 pin I guess. Oh well, thanks for all your info guys!
I think bestatchess is right. You are missing the actual 7 pin plugin. Just like the pic showed, my truck has a hinged plugin mounted on the receiver hitch. I think what is in your pic is the wiring from the factory which plugs into the actual 7 pin receptacle on the truck. This is probably the case given the missing relays. You need to get the relays and a 7 pin receptacle in order for the adapter that you bought to work.

Bestatchess is correct - I was just installing my hitch receiver an hour ago and what you have there is the bare factory harness. It requires an adapter from Nissan in order to accept a standard 7-pin trailer plug or 7-to-4 pin adapter.
I don't have the part number because my adapter came with the receiver hitch kit, but they do sell it separately for like $13.

Ok, here's my theory:
my truck did not have the factory tow package. I added the nissan tow kit with hitch, relays and a short 12"~ PIGTAIL, which plugged into what you have pictured here. There was a plastic 'dust cap' covering the piece you have pictured, which was removed, and the NEW Pigtail plugged into that, and ran out to the mounting spot on the trailer hitch.

Yes, that is exactly what he has. Sounds like the previous owner removed the relays and the 7-pin socket.
Do a web search for Hoppy part # 40955, it's got the 7 pin blade and flat 4 pin in one unit, plugs right into the factory harness. I bought one at Wal-Mart.
