Brake Controller Help

Hello, I Have a Hayes Lemmer 'Syncronizer' brake controller with 4 wires out the back. Red, Black, white, and Blue.

I was looking at the Titan's harness, and there are 5 wires, Red, Black, Brown/white, and Red/blue, and Red/green.

Which one's do I splice together to make my wiring harness work?

Thanks.

Joe B.

Re: Brake Controller Help

Try reading page 1 of this thread, about halfway down there is a word document that has the Nissan color codes for the brake controller harness. Note that the illumination wire is not typically used.

Re: Brake Controller Help

Well, I got the controller hooked up correctly, but the trailer seemed kind of heavy. I pulled onto the scale, and the trailer axles alone were 10,800 lbs., and I don't know how much the tongue weight was. The trailer was loaded heavy on the front, so it wasn't balanced. Total weight was 18,100, with 4400 on the trucks rear axle. I told my friend it was too heavy to pull without a WD hitch, so we got a 2500 Dodge to pull it. That worked fine, but he didn't have trailer brakes, and slid through a few intersections on the gravel roads. Made for an interesting trip.

Re: Brake Controller Help

That's too heavy to pull with a Titan WITH the weight distributing hitch. If you figure your truck weighs in at let's just say 5500 lbs, subtract that from the total weight you measured, that trailer was 12,600 lbs. Just too much trailer for a 1/2 ton truck.

Yeah I know, but I was trying to save some face with my WD comment. The 2500 looked much better pulling it, but was nearly a disaster with no trailer brakes. It wasn't my trailer, or my stuff. I just ended up following along in case there was trouble, I could give a ride to the guys back to town.
