I wouldn't think that would be it, the peak numbers on the dyno will happen after the WOT restriction speed so they should dyno the same.

I think I just got sold on the Cortex and it had nothing to do with the programmer itself. Their support is frickin' awesome.
I shot an email off to them asking about the difference in numbers, I had a response in literally 1 minute asking what year my Titan was. Replied and had an answer within 13 minutes, granted it didn't explain the difference in numbers but it DID tell me what my actual model-year Titan gains would be.
05 titan 5.6 21.13 hp and 27.11 tq
The GT claims slightly more, but on the other hand the chart claims the same gains for all Nissans whether it's the Altima 2.5 or Titan. WTF...
Then on another GT chart it shows the gains for an '07 Titan as +23.3 Horsepower and +49 lbs. ft. Torque but that is at the wheels.
Has anyone done any actual dyno tests with both programmers on the same truck? I think that would say it all right there.

I want to know as well!! I noticed the same but am leaning towards the SC at this point, just because of the track record of happy customers and I really do not like things stuck to my window!! Oh and the downlaoding seems to overall be less painful with the SC
As far as customer support is concerned, I've had good experience with BD's telephone support. I had an issue with my computer and several others with windows vista. The update download was automatically put into an alternate file and the tuner couldn't retrieve it. Gary C. Stayed on the phone with me for over an hour, helping me with the files and explaining everything so I could understand it. The tuner finally loaded the file well after closing time and he offered to stay on the phone while I programmed the truck to make sure it took the tune. I can't say it was painless, but he definately did his best to make it as painless as possible.

I am getting (6.9-8 mpg) when towing my 27' trailer with car in it (5500lbs). FTMS at what speeds are you getting 10.7 mpg. "It's stock".
What upgrades do you have and settings?
Holy Cow man 8mpg at best!!! You must be flooring it from a stop or just driving the hell out of it. I tow a TT that weighs 6800lbs loaded, I tow at about 62-63mph and get 10.8mpg. I have towed a full tank cruising at 70 hitting speeds of 75 and I get 9mpg. I try and keep the RPM's below 2000.

Does anyone have a good support contact email address at BD? I'll give them a call tomorrow and see if someone can answer my question about towing with the GT or if there will be a tow tune or not, but if I get nowhere with that then it would be good to have an email address as a backup. So far I haven't received a response to my web request.

I just got back from running the same trip I did 2 weeks ago with the 87 octane program with the Cortex but this time ran it with the tow program but with 87 octane fuel. Fuel mileage was about the same, 9.5 in the mountains and 10.5/10.8 on the more level areas. The truck did shift less useing the tow program.
I wonder if that can damage anyting running a program designed for 91 with 87??? Just bit the bullet yesterday and ordered the Cortex... Pops what kind of a difference did you have when you programmed your as I see you are running some big tires as well?
Ok, so I spoke with one of the support folks at BD today and their stance is that you can run either tune with the GT while towing without a problem so long as you run the minimum octane listed for the tune (87, 91).
That said, I think I'm going to go with the GT. Nothing against the Cortex, but since I'll be towing I'd really like to have real-time info on the various temps and sensors and have the ability to "de-tune" on the fly if necessary.

Thanks for that, though that wouldn't have made a difference in what I ordered. It's still "easier" with the GT since it's already plugged in, the monitoring of various sensors could prove to be quite valuable.
One other "bonus" is the GT is the same for all gas vehicles, so if I were to end up selling my Titan and getting a diesel I'm not limited to selling it to another Titan/Armada owner, though you all would have the first chance at buying it.

I wasn't trying to change your mind, just FYI. It sounds like the monitoring capabilities is what you're mainly after and the Cortex's monitoring is the worst I've seen. The Cortex is also the same device for other vehicles. From my understanding, I think you can just call and have the device reprogrammed for a different vehicle line, but I'm not 100% sure.

Gotcha, makes sense that it would be possible with the Cortex so long as the updater or whatever tool is able to replace the vehicle-specific code on it. Looks like the GT stores all this on an SD card so they have the memory to store all the tunes, the Cortex probably has minimal memory.
Now, if only it was the same GT for gas AND diesel...
