alright so im planning on getting two shallow mount subs to go under my back seat, and they have 1000W peak and 250W rms each, so my question is what sort of amp(s) [in terms of wattage] will i need? Thanks in advance
so ill only need one, even though i have two subs?
Yea youll only need one amp. I personally have a 2 channel amp it all depends on how you want to wire the subs up. Id personally get a little stronger than 500 watts to push the subs so you dont have the amp at max to get the subs to their RMS rating

It really depends on what ohm the subs are and what ohm the amp will run. If you have dual 4ohm subs, you could run the amp 4 ohm or 1 ohm. depends on how you wire it up. If you need any help on wiring, I can help.

haha yeah i definitely am going to need some wiring help, this is one thing where i have little to no expertise in
thank yall
Its pretty simple once you get the ideal. Parallel makes the ohms go down. So if you have 2 single 4 ohm subs and wire the +'s and -'s together, you would see 2 ohm. Series would make it go up. + from 1 sub, to the - of the other sub. Use the 2 terminals that are left and you just made it 8 ohm. It all depends on the amp though. When you get that, give me a shout.
go with RMS rating and do the same on the amp. try to match up the power. most cheaper will lie about the power so it is important to read the RMS power ratings. for example, a Power Acoustik 3000 does like 150x2 at 4 ohms and only bridges down to 2 ohms mono and puts out like 700 watts. Not even close to what it says on the box. My best advice is to go name brand: Kicker, JL, Rockford, Boston Acoustic, MTX, etc. Good Luck

I have a power acoustic 3000 mono block amp and im pushing 2,965 watts to my dd3515 in my titan!! my suggestion is get a mono 1000watt amp bridge the speakers and turn ur gain quarter way

So YOU think. Look at the book inside the box. RMS ratings are what your looking for. Quote from the company itself
# Power Acoustik OVN1-3000D 3000 watts mono amp
# 3000 watts peak @ 1 ohm
# 1700 watts RMS @ 1 ohm
# 1300 watts RMS @ 2 ohms
# 900 watts RMS @ 4 ohm
# 1 channel
# Gunmetal Grey Anodized Finish w/ Chrome Accents
Its at Sears for 200 dollars. You still think its doing 2900 in your truck when it will only put out 1700 @1 ohm. I have sold Power Acoustik stuff for over 10 years. THEY LIE about their power. Sorry dude!!

your an idiot, I am a Mobile Electronics installer, I run my own business in Texas, I used a Multimeter that read me out 2,900 watts, so looks like the jokes on you
RMS Power (4 ohms) 1100 watts x 1 channel
RMS Power (2 ohms) 1800 watts x 1 channel
RMS Power (1 ohm) 2300 watts x 1 channel
Bridged RMS Power Not Bridgeable
Total RMS Power Output 2300 watts
Peak Power Output 3000 watts x 1 channel
Total Peak Power Output 3000 watts

I'm sorry dude. I have worked for Rockford and MTX. And helped the guy open US Amps in Gainesville. You need to read some more books. PEAK power is not the true power output, especially on a power acoustik that cost you as a dealer 130 bucks. No way in hell.
