Just out of curiousity- has anyone written Rockford Fosgate and started *****ing them out about having their nameplate on such a sorry unit?
Most of these corporations take having their names on products VERY seriously. If they started hearing some serious noise about how bad their units are in the Titan, they are bound to do something to shut up all the bad hype. I know I have posted in other (non Nissan/audio) forums about my Titan, and I have said in every post, do yourself a favor and get the lowest grade stereo you can and go aftermarket. If every Titan owner who had a RF issue wrote to RF, along with Nissan, and told them that you have no problem telling them how lousy their products are, they will listen.
Honestly, I am one of those who love my music loud, and the RF is better than what I had, but I do know whats out there and know 350w should sound a lot better than it does, especially on the FM side. The sound diffrence between the CD and stereo is so remarkable even my wife, who pretty much knows nothing about stereos and acoustics, said that the difference was huge.
Maybe if enough people started posting in other forums they belong to (especially those who are audiophiles and post in stereo forums) and then made a point to send RF the link just to show how much bad press is getting out there about this, they will force Nissan to do something to remedy this.
Anyone have any thoughts on that?

Here is the link on RF's website to send them a question, I guess I will ask them if they know how bad their units are in the Titan. We'll see if I get a response.
I was bored, so I sent this question to Rockford Fosgate. We'll see if there is any response from them (which I doubt) but hey, it was worth a try!
"Hello-
I am a long time RF owner and guess I am a current RF customer by default, I say this because I bought a 2004 Nissan Titan with (what I thought was) a Rockford Fosgate $1300 upgrade.
I have to say, I am VERY disappointed RF would want their name associated with such a poor quality stereo system. As is starts out, it seems to be a RF in nameplate only, the stereo actually being a poor quality Panasonic stereo, CLARION speakers, and a Rockford FOSTER (no typo!) subwoofer, made in Mexico!
Needless to say, when I bought this truck, I was very excited to see the RF option. As I stated, I have owned and loved RF before, so to me this was just an added (and a little expensive) bonus when I bought my truck. I have been horribly disappointed since I got it. The CD sound is good, but the FM and AUX audio quality is pathetic, and if its really 350 watts, well, its a poor 350. This product should be an embarassment to Rockford Fosgate, it surely is not up to the quality I have expected out of them before. In fact, many people seem to agree with this statement. If you go to the link provided here, http://www.titantalk.com/showthread....6&page=1&pp=15
you will see that the RF name is taking a beating because of this issue. If you think that its a small problem, consider this: many people (owners of other trucks, etc) come to this forum to learn about the Titan and this is commonly one of the first threads they will see. The most common thing said in these forums is AVOID THE ROCKFORD FOSGATE. I am thinking this is not something RF would want to see. There are many threads here regarding the RF stereo issue, and a lot of angry Nissan customers that feel they have been deceived by Nissan and RF.
All I know is that many of us Titan owners are now searching for aftermarket stereos after thinking we bought a ROCKFORD FOSGATE, and do you think many will want to give RF a sale? I know as a previous customer I most certainly will not until I have seen that RF has made an effort to have this issue corrected with Nissan.
Needless to say, as a 10 or so year customer who probably spent $3,000-$4,000 on RF and will buy a great system for his Nissan, RF will not be at the top of my list because of this.
I am sure this will get dumped into some vacant email box, and probably never read, but I am hopeful that someone will take note of this. I am exteremly disappointed in Rockford Fosgate. I hope they would want to do something to fix the issue they are having with this.
If by chance someone does read this, you can contact me at any time regarding this issue.

I agree, it is definately false representation! I think Nissan should do the right thing and fix the radio issue and/or refund us the money for what we thought we were getting!
I contacted RF a couple of months ago complaining and they admitted that there was a problem with the head unit and that Nissan knew about it... I posted the reply from RF on this board on one of the threads complaining about the radio... This is actually my only complaint with this great truck!
maybe im simple, but the RF system is not the best ive heard but its fine for me. its all warranted by nissan until 36k so for now ill leave it be. i do think that the bose system in my 97 pathfinder sounds better though.

"Hello-[snip]
You make a very good point. I am probably going to spend about $2,000 on amps, speakers, & subs to upgrade my "RF" system. And I am going to preserve the original theme of the system by avoiding use of any RF components in my upgrade.

Maybe send them their new logo " C.R.A.P " and ask for royalties since you coined the term.

Don't know about the Armada, but the only thing 'Bose' on my 2000 Pathfinder was the name on the dash. Speakers, amp and head were Clarion.
I test drove both Bose and non-Bose Armadas, and bought the non-Bose truck. The Bose system sound quality was slightly better than the non-Bose system, but no comparison to the Clarion MD & DSP unit, Infinity Kappas, JL Audio 12w3, and Alpine amps I pulled from my '98 Seville I traded in for the Armada.
Thanks for RF site info. To alot of people RF now stands for what they help you get. Really fu*ked. When I buy my next auto In a year or two. Their name won't be on it. If it is, I'll look it over closer. Second time would be a shame on me senario. Five years ago This would help their bottom line. Now with the net. Dishonest buisness practices are hard to hide. They turned a profit on this one at the cost of alot of future buis. If you have RF stock don't hold it long term. When every one makes an effort to make sure no one else gets RFed it's going to show.
Has anyone had a static sound in any of their RF stereos? I have a right rear speaker that is driving me insane. It sounds ok when the system is up but when it is low the speaker makes a poping and crackling sound. The speaker has been replaced and now they are ordering a new stereo! Help!!
