I get a little tired of hearing all the sour grapes on the FS audio system. Get over it! Almost every time you buy a factory system it is a compromised system designed to save the makers money.
Just get over yourselves and do what you have to do to get happy.

Yes with the crappy FS system and NAV
Without being so harsh, I kinda agree with you. If you don't like the system upgrade it until you do. Like I said before, I personally think it is pretty damn good for a TRUCK stereo upgrade.
In my opinion, one big problem with the Fosgate system in the King Cab version of the truck, is the use of only midrange speakers in the rear as well as their very poor placement. My preferences in how I like a stereo system to sound may be odd, but I hate the use of rear mid range speakers to add "fill in". I do not understand why the system designers don't like highs or lows from the rear. The Fosgate system is similar to the crappy Bose setup that came in my C5 Corvette except the rear speakers are even in a worse location. I totally redid my Vette system with new speakers front and rear as well as many mods to the head unit to alter it's sound.
As a test, I took off a rear door panel in my Titan and temporarily put in a good 3 way 6.75" speaker. The improvement was marginal, little mids or highs make it to the front seats. My second test was to wire an old /Bose 3.5" mid/tweeter in parallel with the stock midrange speaker and placed it against the rear window pointing toward the front. The results were dramatic. I could actually hear midand high freq sounds from the rear. Again my tastes may not be the norm.
Has anyone added new rear speakers in a new location so they point toward the front?
I think eakes has speakers in boxes that point forward. There was one post with pics of a fiberglass sub box to fit under the reat seat that also mounted components.
I feel deceived. The option says "350 watt Rockford Fosgate ..." Really it is anything but Rockford and the watts are nothing more then adding all of the capabilities of the speaker. Nissan is trying to market the rep behind Rockford and installing SH*T components. I wonder what they put in their Infiniti vehicles sound systems.
I heard 2006 Titans will come with a Bose System! Sounds good!
Not good. Bose artificially inflates the mid-range to make their units sound louder than the actual wattage would indicate (hence the saying "no highs, no lows, . . . it must be Bose!"). Their products are almost universally despised by audio purists - it may be the only thing they all agree on! Plus, I've heard (but not experienced) that removing a Bose system for aftermarket replacement is a giant hassle.

Glad I'm getting an '05!
I have also heard similar things about Bose home surround systems and some people seem to think that Bose is nothing but the best marketing company around.

That does seem to be the consensus. I spent a good deal of time on the AV Sciences forum before I bought some of my home theatre components and I noticed how poor a rep Bose has amongst the audiophiles. That Bose refuses to publish specs just adds to the bad rep. For some reason, many Audi owners (and older Maxima people) seem happy with their Bose car systems but most car people hate 'em - a much higher % than here dislike the Titan RF (which seems closer to 50/50).
So i got some good info from a former engineer from RF. He/She tells me that Rockford isn't ISO 9001 certified and that basically means they have to hire/place manufactures product that are ISO certified in cars and trucks. It takes alot of money, personel and tons of paperwork to get that certification. I work for an ISO certified company and it sucks doing all the paperwork to get product/parts approved and documented.
Thats my 2 cents and information from a credable source who will be left unnamed.

There just really is no "high end system" that is a factory stereo in a car or truck. At least nothing I have seen in a vehicle south of $100,000? Maybe someone has examples that I haven't seen.
It is fairly common knowledge that if you really want good sound, deep bass, etc. that you put an aftermarket stereo in your car or truck. It's always been this way - and probably will be this way for years to come.
My girlfriend's '05 maxima has a bose system, and we both think it's a turd.
However, my truck came with the Rockford (whatever) system and I think it's awesome. Sure your not going to take it to a sound competition, but its pretty da.mn nice for a stock stereo system.

Check out the Acura TL with it's Panasonic system. It'll blow your mind. And yes they advertised Panasonic.
