I had one of these BassLink in my las suv and it was outstanding. Very tight bass, fully adjustable, and rounded out the music very well. When needed to be cranked, it really preformed. Not sure if it will fit in the titan but may be an option.
Not trying to rain on anyone's parade, but it looks like your box is only .4 cubic feet, minus the displacement volume of the driver. The Pioneer site doesn't give any specs on the sub, but suggests a volume of .6-1.0 cu feet. Not a big deal, just means it's going to sound boomy at the low end and drop off a bit faster. I have the same problem with my JL 10w3v2 under my rear bench in my .55 cu ft box... low bass notes can sometimes sound muddled and/or boomy. Anyone know of subs bigger than 8" that will fit boxes this small?
your right sometimes small boxes create boomy sound--the only wat to get around that is to put polyfill in the box,and it will make the sound much richer
you may want to take your box over the tranny hump like sammy (I made one similiar based on his design--but I still want to go under the front seat) you can get close to 0.8 cu ft which will help the SQ
if you use 1/2 birch wood (about as strong a 3/4 mdf--more expensive though) you can get close to 1 cu ft
To everyone just about that has sent me your email address. I have them all Im just trying to get a smaller size files to send everyone. You can all ask SmokeTitan I will fill up your mailbox in no time. Even compressed into a zip.file we are talk 15mb. But please dont think im blowing you all off. I also know Smoke Titan is trying his hardest to get it on here for everyone.
ZX11Rider your are right Im just alittle over .4 cube. Like smoke said you have to add polyfill into tricking the sub that there is more airspace. If you fill your box not cramming it in there you will add 50 percent of your box volume. I also know that Pioneer had almost no info on there site so if you have any question on there sub dont even bother asking there customer service desk they will put you on hold and you will never get your answer anyways. I will try and answer it for you the best that I can. The Lows I download Some Master P and played it. I will say that some of the extreme lows that guy has in his song couldnt be heard but you sure could feel them. On that note to the woofer didnt hit anything either.
Jaohn my floorboard sounds just like yours there is no angleing at all I think it was the camera playing tricks or something but I do see what you are talking about. there is the same amount of space in the front as there is in the rear. The floor is also level all the way across. I do seem to have a bowl in the middle but nothing that would effect the box. I DO NOT have a rockford system I have the 1 cd changer with no options. The guys here convinced me of not buying that and saving my money for something better like the kenwood touchscreen dvd double din. Beautiful head unit. I heard someone on this site installed it wish he would post some pics.
Xsive11 the only thing that ever scares me about the all in one combo is if one goes they both go. Burn up the amp the sub is useless. Blow the sub well good luck trying to just purchase the sub buy itself. Sorta like the tvs with the dvd or vhs built already into them. But I will agree they do sound alright and so do some bazookas they have come along way.
Again everyone just ask what you want I try and answer.
Woah, is that glassed AND fibered 3/4" mdf? Overkill, but rigid central!
I did a top of the line 10" mmats in my last hatchback using 1/2" mdf and just glassed the surfaces. After the install and going to meets, people swore up and down that I had to 12's in place. I even hit as hard as the competition with two 12" of those other fancy drivers that end in 7. Best part was the box was light, but:
just letting yall know russels specs worked perfectly and fit snug exactly--there was no play at all. I picked up an Illusion audio ND10, and built the box added carpet, and voila a new rf sytem. I used 1/2 birch plywood to save room and weight gives the woofer a different sound and it is also much harder than mdf (but more expesive too). I added a ton of polyfill to make the bass more accurate. thx Russell once again. IF folks want pics let me know, and Ill pulll the sub from under the seat and post them
I've been putting this project off for awhile, but it was time to bite the bullet. Just got done glassing my box. My first time with fiberglass- It's nowhere near a professional job, but I'm happy with the result. Next time I think I'll cut back the hardener, so I have more time to manipulate the cloth. I'd probably ditch the flush-mounting accent pieces on top, too. Too many nooks and crannies for the fiberglass.
Question: how much polyfill do you use in this box? I've read some people say it is most effective loosely stuffed, others say pack it in there. What did you use?
Thanks for posting the plans- I wanted a sub without giving up my underseat storage or making some radical console.
Now on to the new overhead console for the 13" drop down....

The Poly Fill is just used to slow the air flow so the driver can excurd from the enclosure as it was intended and give you a clean, tight reproduction of a given note.
I have been told by installers --and do the same myself-- to "lightly pack" the poly fill into the enclosure, leaving plenty of room for the driver to sit in there.
You don't want to stuff the box like a pillow, but you don't want to be able to see the bottom of the box through the stuffing either.
If you don't like how it sounds, just take some out or put more in. I can't imagine being able to hurt the sub unless you severely overstuff the box, so don't overanalyze it, just put a couple fist fulls in and try it out.
Excellent work!! Are you sure that there is no problem with feet potentially touching the sub? Just a thought.

i recently built this box with the same sub but a R/F 6002 pushing it..
well i travel alot and after 14hrs of playing loud mind you the voice coil melted. i mean, not only melted but after i opened the box it looked like it was breathing fire.
We kind of figured that the level i was playing it (about 3/4) must have been pushing it a little to much since the airspace wasnt correct for the sub.
So we built a new box we built it longer to have more air space it extends about an 2 inches out of the rear and we mounted the box so the sub was facing the floor as the sump in the floorboard gives more than ample room.. Well what do you know the damn sub melted AGAIN!!!
Now after the second sub i am having replace we are redoing the box again.
What seems to be happening is after long use the box is so shallow the sub cant breath and retains to much heat after long use. now what is being done is since the sub is firing down now (which imo quakes the truck ) the sump in the floor is so great and the position of the sub i am able to add a peice of spacer 3/4 MDF it create more room for the sub to vent alittle more in the box and it will add more airspace. Now i am sure the orginal box will work great for most people but if you do a lot of driving like i do ad tend to listen to your music for long periods of time @ 1/2 -3/4 you might end up buring up your voice coil.. i must add i never would have gotten this far if not for Russell
and his efforts truly made this much easier to do.
i know i know post some pics and i will as soon as i redo the box... did i mention i am going to add a second one under the passenger seat. These subs are amazing for what they are and what they do . i wasnt going to add anything to my CC because i use all of my storage space under and behind the rear seats..

well i want to use the 3/4 as a space to allow the sub a litle more room in the inside of the box and with the sump unber the seat there is no problem pushing it out a bit , the box bottom is 1/2 mdf and the sides are 3/4 mdf.
