Hey all I Just finished putting in the Pioneer TS-SW124D and WOW. Sound is about Normal. But the feel of the Bass Is great. I have never had back massage so good . Here are acouple of Photos. I am doing a How to up. SmokeTitan if you give me your address I will email everything to you.
The box isn't that small, probably over 1 cubic foot, which is more than alot of 12" subs require. If you have a 12" that fits in that box (ie. the magnet doesn't contact the bottom inside the box) than you are probably ok for air space. IF you think you need more airspace, just fool the subs into thinking there is more there.
Before you install the sub inside the box and after you have run the wires inside, use the stuffing that is intended for subwoofer enclosures which is basically similiar to most synthetic stuffing inside stuffed animals, just heat resistant and not highly flamable. Don't pack it in, just lightly fill the box with uncompressed stuffing and you will fool the sub into thinking it has almost %50 more air volume. (this tip is for sealed boxes only!)
hey Russell any update on the box particulars--mailny ht, and width--and cmon how does the thing sound???? Pretty PLEASE!!!!!! I am trying to get my order in today before the stop shipping for the day
Hey guys sorry so long on the reply I have been out of town. Look in your mail boxes for the how to with pictures later tonight Its going to be fairly large. 30 somthing pictures along with blue prints. If you leave me your email address I will send it to you. I cant put it on here for one it is a works document send it is to big. If someone is willing to take it and convert it and put it on again just email me. I even tried the blue prints to help you guys out but its a bmp. and is over 2mb. Sorry my computer is old and well I dont have any cool programs. Yes the rear support bar is out but I reversed the screws and put them into the box. Pciley is correct. Im not a 1 cube tho more like .48 you will need to put Poly Fill in just like he said. And thanks for reminding me I didnt take pictures of this and will make a note of it in my "HOW TO". Smoke I listen to alot of techno and house. It will do fine. Rap with all the deep deep lows I dont think will do that great with this set up. I guess I could down load some and give you a better insight.
edit---here are the specs that my man Russ sent thx very much they help alot--I am off to order and try to fabricate--I may fiberglass though I post how it goes--just zoom in to get a better view of the jpg
and some more info from Russell emailing me

bottom. The extra top is only to let the sub look flush with the box. It
doesnt add any volume to the box.

I have a question for you-- how are you powering your new sub? is it off the stock amp, or what have you added?
I'm new here, but Audio is important to me. I've got a KC LE, so I also have the Rockford Foster sub in my truck. (I'm saving the colorful acronym that I learned today about that for later posts....)
From a search of your other posts--it looks like you have a Crew Cab. That is an issue for me, as that I have seen in many other threads that there is evidently room behind the rear crew cab seats for mounting locations, but it looks like my King cab seats are flat back against the wall. So, I am looking for and trying to research how best to improve my audio quality, without having as many options as many other threads about the topic.
OK-- I do know that there are the issues with the RF radio reception, and that's why I bought the XM Kit after the fact (or should I say discovery), but I want to keep the RF HU. I'm not too keen on the amp paired with the system driving at 2ohms.
So that is why I really want to know more about all you've done as far as wiring and driving your sub.
Jaohn I do not have the RF system but I do know that others on this site will know alot more on this topic. I have a JBL 301.1 pushing the sub. It is also a really pretty amp. Im waiting for awhile before I go and buy his big brother and put a Whole Jbl system. Im telling you guys dont buy your stuff from the local stereo shop I bought my amp for 120.00 of ebay. Local shop wanted 250.00. I fell sorry for the local business but man cant beat the prices. Can almost buy 2 for that price. But ask them too some will match the prices. As far as wiring I recieve some help and tied into that stock wires ran the audio off the rear channels and tied into the amp turn on. Ran A power off the battery and ran my ground. This is a normal hook up like Circuit City would do. Nothing really fancy.
Thanks! I have looked back at your previous posts in various threads regarding your efforts in building that box, and I must say that I am impressed that you were able to fit that in under your seat. I thought that you had the RF system, but I was incorrect. Please confirm something for me, please...
Your floorboard doesn't look like mine, because from one of your other pictures in another thread here ( http://www.titantalk.com/showpost.ph...46&postcount=1 ) it looks like the floor underneath the driver's seat angles upward about 1-2 inches. In my King Cab, (from the back foot area of the rear passengers) my floorboard drops about 3/4" just forward of the drivers-seat rear bolts, and then about another 1/2" around the position of the factory sub rear-mount bolts. Additionally, I don't have a crossmember across the back of my Driver's side seat frame. (any one else?)
I think that you've got a good design there, and I'd like to do something to copy it, but as best as I can figure so far, I can only fit amps under one of the front seats. (and since it looks like the subs package won't fit under the back seats in a KC to my liking) It looks like I may have to maximize my front underseat space.
Not trying to rain on anyone's parade, but it looks like your box is only .4 cubic feet, minus the displacement volume of the driver. The Pioneer site doesn't give any specs on the sub, but suggests a volume of .6-1.0 cu feet. Not a big deal, just means it's going to sound boomy at the low end and drop off a bit faster. I have the same problem with my JL 10w3v2 under my rear bench in my .55 cu ft box... low bass notes can sometimes sound muddled and/or boomy. Anyone know of subs bigger than 8" that will fit boxes this small?
