Okay i'm going to start this off by saying i dont know a thing when it comes to audio okay so my current set uo right no is just not working so this is what i have to work with:
I have a cheap wiring kit from walmart lol
12" kicker sub in a prefab junk box powered by a kicker mono amp
Kennwood headunit
4 polk audio speaker 200w power tops and i just bought this amp for them Visonik VK1600.4 (vk16004) 4-Channel Car Amplifier
SO my question to you is how do i tie this all together and where to mount and wire and what not?! how do i get power to both amps? do i need a capacitor? where can i mount the amps in my king cab? any and every input helps
Sorry I never posted back on your other thread but, you'll need a distribution block to wire both amps, another set of RCA's, and IMO....a new wiring kit lol
It might be too strong. If you say your speakers are 200w peak and the amp puts out 200w rms...you'll blow them quick. I have never had a Visonik amp so I don't know if they overrate their products but from what it says, it'll be too strong!
Agrees with what was said above. You should have put your own wire kit together... Those kits (Walmart) are put together with one small amp in mind, most of the time not even that. Your wiring is the backbone of the system, and needs to be good quality and adequately sized. RCA's really need to be good quality as they can make or break the quality of sound. At bare minimum, I would run 4gauge to a fused distribution block, and 8 gauge from block to amps as well as to ground the amps. That is a bare minimum, mind you... I wouldn't go any smaller than that, and that is even pushing the envelope a little.
What kind of head unit are you running? What is the model of the sub amp you have? What is the model of the sub? What is the model of the polks?
As far as the high speakers and the visonik amp are concerned, I wouldn't worry about overpowering the speakers so much. You can take care of that when you tune the amps out... Personally, I would rather overpower speakers than under power them. Also, volume control is a major factor... Are you going for ballz to the wall loud, or good quality sound to make the commutes better? Either way, if the speakers start distorting, turn it down...
About your sub and box. In my opinion, most first time box builders do a better job than a lot of the pre-fabs out there. I have seen pre-fabs actually come apart under heavy bass notes. If you have any wood working skills, we can walk you through building your own box and I think you would be a lot happier in the end. Not only with the sound, but also with the pride of saying "I did that".

Gonna chime in on this thread. I have an 08 LE with nav and wanna run an amp and 2 10" subs I have laying around. How do I get behind the head unit? I have done some simple installs (on older vehicles, stuff was simple) but never anything newer. Is it plug and play. Can I get my audio source from the factory sub? Anything would be helpful. Thanks!
