Important Dynamat Question

I am finally beginning my install on Friday, but its pretty cold here (say 30F or so). I want to put some Fatmat in but am worried about it not sticking in the cold weather. Anybody have any info on this? The truck is too big to fit in the garage to work on.

Re: Important Dynamat Question

yea don't use fatmat it will fall off in heat too, thats why I chose to pay a little extra for a quality product, I didn't ever want to have to do all this again!

I have fatmat and am using it. Will the adhesive be OK to install in cold weather in general?

Re: Important Dynamat Question

is fatmat asphaltic based? asphaltic is where there are problems with hot weather melting it off. it would have that tar smell to it. If butyl based no stink and usually more pliable. I've worked w/ Peel N Seal, old and new raammatt and second skin damplifier.

I think if you use some heat you should be ok. If it sticks, then it stays sticky.

Justintox...long time no see on the board.

So what do you reccomend as a good bang for the buck alternative to Dynamat Extreme? I know DE works great, have used it but with the Titan I need like 2x more than my Tacoma so I wanted to save some $$ for a good alternative.

Re: Important Dynamat Question

Its like the Raamat, no asphaltic base. Doesn't smell. I'm gonna try and just run the heat in the truck while I'm putting it in and maybe use a hairdryer or something. I'll take some pics.

Good luck with that......I don't think that it will properly adhere if once you get it on there, the panel drops in temp again. Every quality deadener that I have used, most recently eDead SE, the instruction state a recommended min/max temps and 30 is well below the recommendations. If I were you I would wait and do it right in the spring. I have a couple projects that are on hold till spring.....
