amp dilemma

Here is my story.... I have a old school Linear Power amp (2502IQ) and I have a JL audio 10W6. That amp can only go as low as 4 ohms (I have been told by the tech at TIPS... he does all fixes for Linear Power). The speaker has dual 6 ohm voice coils, so when I bridge the speaker it drops to 3 ohms... well, to make a long story short, I was told my amp is recognizing 1.5 ohms and it CANT handle that. I had it hooked up like this for about a year and it did fine (luckily I have been told), but when I pulled the amp out, I noticed something was jiggleing inside and it was some sort of capacitor on the circuit board that had exploded... I got the amp fixed and was told that I was very lucky that I didnt do more damage to it. My question is, will this amp power this speaker sufficiently if I was to keep it at 4 ohms? I really know nothing about stereo stuff, other than I know I have a good amp and a good speaker... should I go w/ a new sub(s)??? new amp??? what do you think??? thanks. I like the idea of the JL Audio stealth box w/ the dual 10s, but dont like the idea of paying $800...

yea 4 ohm for a 4 ohm amp is fine.

Problem with JL W6's is the stupid 6 ohm coils. You can run 3 of them in parallel wires for 6 ohms each and it will have a total of 2 ohms which you can't run either. This is why W6's are generaly run in sets of 3.

I think you could also buy a new amp like a Hifonics Brutus, that is 1000 watts @ 2 ohms and 500 watts @ 4 ohms. So I dunno what it would product @3 ohms probably someplace in between. abotu 750 watts?

It is also cheaper thant he stealthbox.

What I don't understand is how your going to fit that sub under the rear seats?

Also JLW6 V2's are supposed to be alot better than their older ones, you might consider just getting new stuff for your new truck.

I have 2 12W0's im going to have to ditch.
