Only XM will work with 6-disc player?

I received this email from the dealer this morning and was wondering if anyone has any different information. I think the price is rather high as well as the fact that you cannot use Sirius with the 6-disc system.

XM radio is the only factory system available as long as you have a six disc
cd player in the truck. I think both are great systems but for the sports
enthusiast Sirius has a couple more football stations compared to XM.

The cost is $649.68 with tax prior to your discount.

That the Sirius satellite receiver will not work on the Titan will probably come as a great shock to those that have it on the truck. Granted, only the XM unit is listed as an option for the Titan, but the Sirius unit is listed as an option for the Armada. The hangup comes on the antenna, one will need an aftermarket antenna for the Sirius unit to work on the Titan.
The price is approximately correct. The XM 'kit' lists for $400 for the parts. The addition of install labor could easily bring the total to $650.

XM or Sirius aftermarket radios sound as good as CDs when played through the AUX input. You should be able to set yourself up with either one for about $150.

Right now, Crutchfield.com is offering a two-for-one sale. Buy one XM radio and get another by mail after you register and pre-pay for a year's service (I think). Of course, you have to pay another $6.99 a month for the second receiver.

I run an XM Roady2 in my Titan, mounted to the plug where the 4 wheel drive selector in 4X4s is located. I run it through the AUX port and I am completely satisfied with the sound quality.

I purchased the Sirius radio box from everythingnissan.com in late March for $262.50 + s/h. I bought a Terk Mini antennae from x10.com for ~ $35 and an antennae signal splitter from buy.com for ~ $12 for a total system cost of ~ $342. I installed them myself without too much trouble and it sounds great. I have the column shifter so I had to fashion a custom mount just under the knee plate. (If you have the center console shift - there are some detailed instructions with pics if you perform a search on this site). I am not sure how to "hook up" links or I would do it for you. My truck has the 6 disc changer in it (NOT Rockford Fosgate model).

Roy . . . either XM or Sirius OEM will connect to the 6-disk via the N-Bus cable already in your truck. I just bought a Sirius from Jamie at Marlboro Nissan (TitanParts 247). He sells the bracket, receiver and the (new) Sigma windshield antenna for $358. The weather's been so incredibly cruddy, I haven't installed it yet.
Search on "sirius sigma antenna" and "sirius satellite radio" here for more info. Several of our members have OEM Sirius (eakes?), and a few have the Sigma antenna.
While you can get aftermarket receivers for less than half the OEM stuff, if you want full integration with the OEM radio/steering wheel controls, you've got to pay the price.

I initially installed my XM receiver piggy-back on the RF amp per Nissan's instructions and then later re-installed per schneid's instructions when I re-configured my stereo with aftermarket amps. I highly recommend doing it schneid's way. If the Sirius receiver connects to the N-Bus cable, you should be able to install it pretty easily using schneid's instructions.

Roy, just wanted to close the loop and let you know the OEM Sirius and Sigma antenna are in and working perfectly. Eventhough I had the piggyback brackets, I decided to use schneid's knee bolster method. I'm certain this saved me time and at least a half-bottle of heart attack pills.
BTW, while I was under there I did TSB 04104, which tells you if the brake pedal needs adjustment in response to soft or mushy brakes. How to adjust it is in the service manual. Fortunately I'd already spent my $19.99 and downloaded the whole thing.

Just wanted make sure, I bought my truck a couple of days ago, and the dealer told me that Sirius will work on the 6 cd System. So reading everyone else's reply I assume you are saying that you had it installed on yours and it works fine? The dealer told me that the kit was hard to get, about a 3 week wait. Temporary I have the Sirius starmate installed until my permanent system comes in.

mitch, I didn't have it installed. I did it myself. And yes, it works just fine. Sound quality is equivalent to CD - maybe better. The N-Bus cable (part of the titan's wiring harness) plugs directly into the receiver. So does the two-plug antenna splitter, then the antenna plugs into the splitter. I ordered my receiver and antenna from TitanParts247 (which you've probably noticed is one of our sponsers) in mid April. Jamie told me the receiver was on Nissan's backorder list. He shipped it 3 weeks later. TitanParts247 is Marlboro Nissan near Boston. Perhaps that's what your dealer means by "hard to get".

Does anyone know how much the XM modulator costs?

I have the RF system 'pre-wired' for XM. I just picked up a Roady2 tonight, and like Featherstone said, you buy one, get one free. I too plugged it into the AUX, but I don't think that's gonna work for me.

Anyone know cost?

You can buy FM modulators at a number of different places - WalMart, Target, Radio Shack and almost any store that sells auto audio products. typical price is in the $25 to $40 range.
Using an FM modulator is absolutely the WORST way to get a satellite radio signal into the radio. Feeding through the AUX will yield far better audio quality than the FM modulator. The FM radio part of the RF system has to be one of the poorest implementations I have experienced in an automobile. The rf gain is poor and its frequency response is awful.

LOL, I wonder where schneid got his install idea from since I posted the alternate receiver mounting location months before he did.
