Speaker wires

I've just purchased new speakers (Pioneer) for my 08 Titan and I'd like to make the install as simple as possible I'd like to use the existing wires. How can I determine which wire goes to the + terminal and which is - ? Does it matter?

Re: Speaker wires

The OEM Speakers should have a + or - at each connection.

Yes, it is critical to get the Polarity correct. This is called Phasing.

You will not damage the Speaker if it is backwards, but the Phase will be wrong and you will not hear the music be centered like it should be. It will seem to float around or be weak. basically, the speakers would be going the wrong direction of their in/out motion, compared to another speaker making the same sound, and it just sounds awful, or like it isn't working.

The dash tweeters are wired in parallel with the front door woofers.
In CrewCab models, the rear door tweeters are wired in parallel with the rear door woofers.

If the vehicle has rear seat audio controls w/ AUX input, both will be lost when an aftermarket stereo is installed.
