more opinions, please

I am looking at putting the new Pioneer touch screen unit in my vehicle. You can get live traffic, play DVDs (while vehicle is NOT in motion) control your ipod and listen to XM on this system. I have priced out installing it at 2 places and prices are similar. One store is recommending Jensen speakers and the other is recommending Boston Acoustics. Any opinions out there? I have had Bostons before and really liked them, I know almost nothing about Jensen.
Love to hear what you audiophiles think,
Annette

Jensen sucks, there might be a way to play DVD's while your driving for yor passengers enjoyment although Im not sure if it is legal in some states.

I believe you just trick the HU to thinking the venhicle is turned off.

all they do is connect the videos ground wire so it grounds while you have the e-brake on all you have to do is put that wire to a constant ground and BAM video whenever you feel like it.

pioneer unit

Well, the Pioneer unit I'm looking at is about $2300.00 installed, before speakers, dynamat, xm traffic and ipod hook-up. All in all it's looking like it will be about $3200.00 to do this set up. So if this is a cheap set up, I'd hate to see a pricey one!
I have always put Polk speakers in in the past, or Bose if I could. I really like clean sound, I'm not into blasting it and trying to impress the other people in their cars (I don't want to listen to what they're listening to, so why should they have to listen to mine!)
I've gotten old enough now that I just don't want to mess with it. Once it's installed, I just want to be able to turn it on and not have to feel like I'm programming a shuttle mission when I want to listen to music or whatever. The thing I like about this unit is that it's all on the touch screen and pretty logical to manuever through. Just touch what you want and there you go. Since I have to have someone else do the install, I need to find a one stop shop, but there are many more to look at around here so I'd love to hear suggestions on other brands of speakers, or head units for that matter, that I can go listen to and try out.

I concur with Rainbows too, but they are money, and so is Focal. Rainbow have many lines and selection, they do have a set of speakers that are very nicely priced. If I had the money to buy a set of Focal, I would look at Diamond D9/Hex components.

There is no way that I would let some one touch my truck who advises Jensen’s as a viable option. They obviously don't know anything about car audio and i would be willing to wager that they do there installs in the same 1/2 *** manor. I am sure that they have great margins on the lower line components, but Jensen = crap. Pay the extra $15-$20 per hour to a reputable shop, and get the install done correctly the first time! Don't feel like you have to purchase you speakers from a dealer. There are a ton of web sights that discount speakers. You are going to have to pay for the install either way. You can also try to install them yourself. The door panels are really easy to take off.

Boston’s are awesome but expensive. Focal, Rainbow, Morel, CDT, Memphis, Infinity (Kappa's), MB Quart, ect ect. There are a ton of great components. How much do you want to spend????????

I wouldn't touch Pioneer or Jensen!!! Look into Diamond Audio for your speakers and consider the Kenwood Excelon or Eclipse for your headunit..

For that same price you could have a Eclipse AVN5435. Eclipse sound quality is awesome and not to mention there warranty is kick butt.. It also has 5 volt preouts but more important is the preouts are 55ohm....

Yeah, $2300 just for the HU installed? I'm assuming there's more to it than that, what all is included in that price?
