I have had a few amps stable at .25 ohms, they were 50w monoblocks by mcintosh from I think early 80s, but I dont recal. My Krell home amp I currently run at <1ohm, I also use it to heat my basement.
No offense to the thread starter here or anyone else, but regardless of what the specs say, what the box says, what the salesman says, there is no product that you can purchase at a best buy/tweeter/ultimate electonics, that can put out (or handle if were talking about speakers) more than ~300w.
RF is especially notorious for this, if you checked your amp out I would bet hard cash that unless you jacked it to put out dirty power you would never get over 100w.
To put this into perspective let me tell you about my Krell home audio amp (home audio is a little different but the analogy works) is 250w at 4ohm x 2 channels. It cost $10,000.00 and wieghs ~200lbs. Look at that amp, and tell me your 4lb 10"x12"x2" RF has twice the power.
Again I am sorry to rant and mean no offense to the thread starter. I just want to offer a little advice, Don't trust anyone selling anything.
Where are you getting you information? Are you saying the a Rockford Fosgate Power 1000 (available ultimate electronics) is not pushing more that 300WPC? The power series are notoriously underrated. The can push well beyond their rated power (500x2). These amps are very heavy (at least 35-40lbs), and well built. As far as the speakers handling 300 watts. Ultimate caries The fosgate power line’s, infinity perfects, Kicker Solobarics L7’s Ect. Ect. Any of the aforementioned subs (10 or 12”) will handle 1000w no problem.
I would be willing to put a pair of JL 1000/1 ($600 retail) against you Krell amp any day of the week. As far as being an Audiophile amp, your Krell is among the best out there. If you are talking about raw power, those JL (given the proper amperage) will walk all over your Krell any day of the week.
