right nw I have 2 10's in my truck. However I blew one almost right after i got it. so right now i have one new Rf sub and one crappy old pheonix gold in here. I'm thinking about running 4 8's instead. what kind of bass could i expect from these? I have never had 8's before. if I got some good ones would they work poretty hard?
I am a super bass head. I want very hard, car shaking bass. would 8's do it or should i stick with 10's and get some better ones?
I'm thinking 8's would be ok since they would require a little less airspace. thanks all.

I have 4 Audiobahn 8's and they hit pretty hard, I am a serious bass head too. I had 2 Audiobahn 1006T's before in my other car, but they would not fit in the Titan due to air space issue, and they pound. Here is a pic, kind of hard to get a good look at them, but none the less there they are.

it ;looks as if you have it ported? you think they preform better as opposed to sealed? im a little new to sealed boxes. i always had cars with big @$$ bandpass boxes and 12's. i want that kind of bass agian. i hope im hoping for too much. i want exactly your setup with some good 8's. what model are yours? look like these i think?
my friend just got the 10 inch version of that sub, I think you are going to need some serious power to run 4 of those. Those say only 350 watts RMS but at 3 ohms interesting cause my friends 10 is rated at 1000 watts RMS @ 1 ohm. I think it'sthe sam sub only the 10 inch version. Why is there so much difference?

i have a RF 1001BD 1000 watt mono amp. Its rated at 1000 watts at 4 ohm. It is 1 ohm stable. I can bridge it down to 2 ohms with no problems. I would think that woul dbe enough to run them?
I was also thinking though of getting perhaps a lower grade sub due to having limited airspace. would two on each side of the hump have enough airspace?

No I dont think that would run them. I have a hard time believing there is an RF product that is 1ohm stable. Especially one that sells for (quick ebay check) $350.
A 1ohm stable amp that puts out 1000w at 4ohm is pretty hard to find. If the amp put out 1000w at 4 ohm, it would put out 4000w at 1 ohm.
its an older rockford amp. their older stuff is mucho better then their new stuff. I used to have an old Power 1000a2. now THAT was an amp.
most of the ones on ebay are refurbished. 350 for an older refurbished amp is still a bit pricey.
perhaps i'll just go with a lower grade sub for now just to see how i like it. If it works mebbe I'll upgrade my amp and speakers in the future when i can afford it.
well here is an idea run the subs so they are 4 ohm combined. I htink if you run 4 of them in parallel you would have (3+3+3+3) / 4 = 4 ohms! Set your amp for mono and they would recieve 250 watts each. Doubt it is optimal but it would probably work.
No, 4 3 ohm subs in paralell would be 0.75 ohms equivalent impedance. I haven't heard of an amp stable to that low. Maybe there is one though.
1/Req = 1/R1 + 1/R2 + 1/R3 + ....1/Rn
I have had a few amps stable at .25 ohms, they were 50w monoblocks by mcintosh from I think early 80s, but I dont recal. My Krell home amp I currently run at <1ohm, I also use it to heat my basement.
No offense to the thread starter here or anyone else, but regardless of what the specs say, what the box says, what the salesman says, there is no product that you can purchase at a best buy/tweeter/ultimate electonics, that can put out (or handle if were talking about speakers) more than ~300w.
RF is especially notorious for this, if you checked your amp out I would bet hard cash that unless you jacked it to put out dirty power you would never get over 100w.
To put this into perspective let me tell you about my Krell home audio amp (home audio is a little different but the analogy works) is 250w at 4ohm x 2 channels. It cost $10,000.00 and wieghs ~200lbs. Look at that amp, and tell me your 4lb 10"x12"x2" RF has twice the power.
Again I am sorry to rant and mean no offense to the thread starter. I just want to offer a little advice, Don't trust anyone selling anything.

well ok then......i have had previously a Rf 800 watt amp pushing two 12's. by your reasoning, if they were only getting 50 watts then thats more then enuff! they hit incredibly hard. my frieind had a 400 wat phonix gold amp puishing 4 xmax 10's that hir VERY hard. I doubt he was pushing them with a 100 watts.
perhaps car audio is built muchdifferently then home audio?
i dont know much about home audio at all, but i know for sure that he dudes at car shows pushinf multiple subs with a few amps areputtingout a helluva lot more power then you say.
