Problem with aux input

I installed an XM radio, everything works fine, except that if I tap into all 3 wires coming from the aux input that is built in, I get I wierd sound out of the right channel. When I disconnect the ground, the sound is fine, but the level goes down.

When I plug the XM into the built-in jack, the level is much louder. Do I have some wires reversed or something?
