After removing the factory radio and installing a Dave Navone line out converter, the airbag light started flashing. At frist i thought i just didnt have the clip plugged in but sure enough it was plugged in. Someone tell me why this light is flashing!
you probably turned the ignition key on before you plugged in the airbag clip. Take it to the dealer and tell them it just started flashing, don't mention that you installed the converter-otherwise they might try to charge you to reset it. They will reset it for you in a few minutes.
It might take a couple tries, but the fix does work. I've done it so many times I can't remember (pulled the bezel and seats out a lot.) Sometimes I have to do it a couple times to get the timing down right. If it's still not working then there is probably something still unplugged.
When I first tried the reset, I was trying to watch my watch for counting the number of seconds, which goofed me up. Here is what works for me:
If you have the airbag light, it will show steady for a few seconds (the manual says 7 secs) after you turn the key from off to on (but not start) and then start to flash. Don't try to look at your watch or count seconds, as that might mess you up.
1. Turn the key from off to on.
2. Watch the airbag light closely. It will stay on for a few secs. and then as soon as it blinks off (the start of the flashing), turn the key off instantly.
4. Repeat steps 1-3 two more times until you have done the cycle three times.
5. Now turn the key on and watch the light. It will start blinking in a different, slower manner. This is diagnostic mode. You can watch this for a little while, no hurry.
6. Now turn the key off again, Count to 5 like in step 3 again, and turn back on. If the procedure worked, the airbag light will not be flashing.
It is of course possible that something else is wrong (bad connection), but I have done quite a few times and it has worked every time.
FREAKING AWESOME!!!!!!!! I just made an appt with the dealer today for a 2 hour wait and $95!!!! It worked first try! I love this site, saved me 100 bucks. Hell yeah fellas! CHEERS - Chris
