I am looking at replacing my my alpine type R speakers with something else. Can you reccomend anything?
I am using a USAmps 5600x amp which is a 5 channel 75x4 @ 4ohm + 200x1 @4 ohm. This amp is 2ohm stable. I am also using a kenwood kvt-915 deck.
I do not want to replace the amp so what are some speakers I should look at. Preferably 6.5 components in the front, and 6.5 coax in the rear but am very open to suggestions about rear speakers.
I should also note that I am using a earthquake sws10 sub under the seat, it doesn't put out a ton of bass but its better than nothing and I need the other room for cargo so I cannot replace that unit.
Comparable to event he best, at this quality range it comes down alot more to the install than the speakers. I think they are underrated at 100 watts since they have 3 inch voice coils but 75 should be PLENTY, but mine sound great even off HU power (would recomend some kind of amp) I plan to run mine off a 75 wattx2 RMS Eclipse, shoudl have it hooked up fairly soon.
That site has some nice cheap prices, my friend said he found them at a local shop for less which seems odd to me cause that site has real cheap prices.
I can tell you where to get them for $475 though which fits your budget. Look through my insall post in this forum if you interested
you could also go with Diamond CDT Dynaudio, or focal, but they are not goig to be as efficient as the DLS so I would recomend tem for your amp if you like Non-Harsh Neutral sounding tweeters.

I went with Kenwood 6.5 components front and rear. Best Buy had them for like $170 a set. So that would keep you in your price range. Totally happy with mine.

I had the Kenwood excelon series components before the DLS and they are not even CLOSE to the same quality. The difference in clarity, volume, and Midbass, accuracy etc between the 2 sets is simply unreal.
I thgouht my excelons were the **** too in terms of clarity, but they fall very short of my new set. You would be suprised!
The DLS make enough Midbass that you can feel it in your chest (so I hear since mine are not amped but I can still feel it a bit) But it's not liek Subwoofer Bass it does nto rool it is very clean and accurate. I would recomend Deadening and sealing off your doors though.
I'm still undecided about the rear I may just leave the stock ones as I only have a 2 channel amp and you can't really hear them anyways, or I may put my old dualmags back there.
Otherwise I may likely put in some RE XXX 6.5 mids in the rear doors if there is enough room for them.

When I said $600 I meant both front and rear. I was considering maybe just a mid driver in the rear.
The iridiums would be nice but I think they are too much, and the kenwoods I don't think are worth the money. I wouldn't rate the kenwoods much higher than the alpines, not enough to justify teh extra $$$
$475 for the iridiums sounds awesome but I don't know what I would do with the rears then, I definetly need all the channels because I am running dolby digital 5.1 in my truck
Although I appreciate the suggestion I could use a little more info. Do you suggest I put those in the front & rears? How do they sound?
They RMS 150w I can only feed them 75, Is that enough to make them sound good?
What are your experiences with these?
I have them front and rear, but many people put a set in the front and use less expensive speakers for rear fill. They sound great, outstanding clarity, particularly on higher end (female vocals). I am driving them with 100W x 4 and they will play way way way loud with clarity. I would think 75 x 4 would be fine, but you can ask the guys at edesign to make sure.
i just got some diamond d661 components, and they rock pretty hard; i have a mtx amp that's putting out about 60watts a channel, so it should be good to go on your amp. they list for about $400, although you can find them on ebay w/o factory warranty for $180. if you want the factory warranty, pm me and i can pm you a good shop that hooked me up.
Well, DLS has other lines that are also ver good, the next line down saves you some $ and still have a 3 inch voice coil.I can get you the hookup for those also. The guy carries the entire line, as well as other brands like CDT.
Also I agree those kenwoods might not even be as nice as what you have now.
Here is another thought, you could move your alpines to the rear and get something else new up front, since they will likely not be as loud anyways and you can always fade them a little more to the front. I beleive you want the majorit of your sound to come fro the front, even for running 5.1.
if you go for diamonds get the hexes with the silk tweets.

What about a pair of MB quart pce 216's for the front and RCE 216 in the rear? That should also keep you on budget, just doing a quick search looking at onlinecarstereo.com around $470
