Now it says rear speakers cannot be hooked up in mono, however since the titan uses 2 ohm rears I simply wired mine in series and plugged them into one channel of my Eclipse HU, they sound a bit more clear and about as loud as factory, they are probably each recieving a full 1 watt less than factory HU power this way... I was looking to get some fancy rear speakers but it sounds as if having Rear Speakers will destroy the imaging of the system and compromise the sound quality. My best bet may be to leae the stockers in place just to get some rear fill without distracting from the soundstange in front.
I will be deadening the doors and sealing them up tight anyways.
Another thing is the titan's suicide doors open a full 168 deg, almost 180! This is perfect for aiming the speakers for listening to music outside of the car. So I do feel I want rear speakers there, even if I just fade the system to the front for the majority of the time.

I was just posting because so many people buy comps or coaxils for the rear when they should be doing mono Midranges, or disconnecting them compleatly, and spending the extra money saved on their fronts...

Man I would still get some coaxes for the rear. To me there's just something about a nice $2-3k system with stocker rear spkrs that I don't like. Plus like you said, get some decent $100 or so rear speakers and fade it to the front for soundstage. Then if you do want to listen outside you can even it out or fade to the rear and it would sound great.

When you say you wired the rear speakers in series and plugged them into one channel on you HU, which channel are you talking about? One of the rear speaker outs or a preamp or what? I assume you don't mean either the right or left rear out.

Actualy yea, they are both plgged into the rear right cannel, So it's a form of mono but not mono mono. I did it as a temporary solution as I ended up having my front speakers out and door pannels off for about 6-8 weeks. yes I was goign crazy like this. Funny thing is, one channel from an aftermarket HU puts out about the same power as both channels ont he stock HU. I wonder if they used some kinda of amp in the stock HU. For example when you bridge an amp that puts out 300x2 @ 2 ohms into 1 channel it puts out 600x1 @4 ohms, well if the stock HU uses 2x7 watts @ 2 ohm then it is probably about the sae as 14x1 @ 4 ohhm which is similar to what an aftermarket HU will put out on one channel.
As it is I can barley make out the stock rears anymore ayways and tats jsut with the DLS Iridium's running of the HU untill I install my amp. They are real efficient, cause my HU did not power my last set of components nearly as loud.
