Aftermarket stereo and system installed

I just got a system put in my titan. Kenwood kdc-x969 deck, 2 10" (actually 11") Focal subs in fiberglassed box, Focal speakers with tweeters in front, Diamond speakers in rear doors, JBL gto600.1 mono amp under driver seat (woofers), orion amp under passenger seat (speakers). They also used something similar to the Pac swix so I did not lose my steering wheel controls. I am very happy with everything it sounds awesome! Ask Beaver he checked it out. Here are a few pics. Later all- Chris

Yeah I got the deck a couple years ago in my old tahoe and had them install it. Its really great lets you tweak everything, amp and sub frequencies, offsets, with tweaking I got my subs hitting twice as hard...Id reccommend it to all. The box was custom built by the guys at arizona auto werks (who did the entire system). Cost me $400 installed. I got lucky though because that was the quote for a wood box with just some parts fiberglassed. They couldnt do it like they thought so they ended up doing the whole thing fiberglass at no extra charge. I got a $500 gift right there, my lucky day. Sounds awesome though the Focal stuff it stellar. Later- Chris

Very nice!

But I thgouht it was bad to have the speakers fire up into the seat? Or do you leave the seat up most of the time? All top of the line stuff for you! I still need to figure something out for a box myself.

Where did they mount the Diod For the PAC?

I leave the seats down all the time. I didnt know it was bad for the subs to have them firing up? I figure itll be ok cause they know what they are doing. They do some insane stuff a lambo was pulling out as I dropped off my truck. Yeah I figure might as well do it once and do it right haha. The diod is in the upper console to the left of the sunglasses holder. Ill take a pic for you. Yeah I was surprised how expensive it was, the box they did for my tahoe was only 180. Later - chris

Excellent job!

I'm working out the details on a diy fiberglass box. I like how they curved the box to match the seat contour and intend to do the same thing myself.

You mentioned they ended up going totally fiberglass. What changed their decision?

Also, I notice they were built the box about 2/3 of the seat width. Any particular reasons?

upfiring into the cushions might muffle the sound some, not a big deal but you might play with putting them up and down when the subs are hitting hard and see if it makes a difference.

I do like the way the contoured it to the seats also, I plan to make something similar only downfiring. Somehow I think I will need to use fiberglass and MDF, I wanted to put the subs in seperate chambers but I'm not sure it would make a difference.

I can't decide where to put my diod, I hear it is easy to install in the upper console but I don't know what plug to use or how to take the console apart. The directions only tell you which plug to use in the dash.

The box goes all the way across to the end of the other seat I just took the pic of the half with the subs shown. He wouldnt be able to get as much airspace as he wanted and it wouldnt have sounded as good with the wood, so he fiberglassed it for me. Hmm Ill ask him about the up/down firing and see what he says. Ill get that pic for you intoxicated.

Heres that pic of the diod, its the tiny black speck to the left of the sunglasses filp down. Let me know if the subs sound better firing up or down when you do yours. Later - Chris
By the way, does the dealer normally charge $95 to reset the airbag sensor? Mine has been blinking because they removed the seats and whatnot. Seems kind of steep.

do a search on the blinking. it is an easy fix you can do yourself. I am in gilbert as well. One of these days, I would love to come by and see how they put your system togeather. I have 2 10's in a downfire box right now, but am looking for a better SQ set up. Where are you at in gilbert? (i'm off of Valvista and Germaine)

Unless they damaged a wire or didn't get everything connected back, you should be able to reset the light yourself by turning the key off and on.

1. Turn the key from off to on.

2. Watch the airbag light closely. It will stay on for a few secs. and then as soon as it blinks off (the start of the flashing), turn the key off instantly.

3. Count to 5 (1 Mississippi, 2 Mississippi . . . .)

4. Repeat steps 1-3 two more times until you have done the cycle three times.

5. Now turn the key on and watch the light. It will start blinking in a different, slower manner. This is diagnostic mode. You can watch this for a little while, no hurry.

6. Now turn the key off again, Count to 5 like in step 3 again, and turn back on. If the procedure worked, the airbag light will not be flashing.

Wow, I'm impressed! Your system must sound great.

I gotta couple of questions:

1. Did you do any sound dampening (Dynamat, Fatmat, etc.)?

2. Did you put Diamond component speakers in the rears? Which ones?

3. How do the amps fit underneath your seats? Any movement or heat issues?

Great system, dude!

You can install a PAC SWI-X and retain your steering wheel controls, I have it and it works.

my friend said his sub sounded better firing towads the ceiling and I just read an article that says they should fire towards eh back of the cab or towards the ceiling, However, my friend left his downfigin because it's a bit abusive on passengers using the rear seat.

I thnk I will go for a downriging box myself so I can toss crap on top of it when I go camping, but it may indeed sound better upfiring.

You shoudl put the seats up and see if it sound even better though.

Thanks for the pic.

I was playng with the remote on my system and it sucks, I have to point the remote directly at the HU or it does not work at all, I' not sure if it is the sensor on the HU or the LED in the remote that is so weak. I would not get any signal to the HU from my remote where you mounted the sensor I tried a few locations , the rear wall would work if I taped it to the seat or something lol, or I might be able to mount the sensor directly under the trim piece for the HU. but either way the wires will probably be showing.
