Radio info

Trying to educate myself on this subject. What does MOSFET mean? Is there a web sight I could go to when I have a chance to pick up a stereo component so I could tell if it's a quality unit or not, somewhere I could match up model numbers? For instance I can get a pioneer MOSFET DE H-P7300 hu right now but I don't know if it's a quality unit or not. Thanks.

MOSFET is a type of circutry that is designed to give you more power to your speakers. Alot of CD players and amplifiers have been designed this way for years. A cd player that puts out good rms (constant power to your speakers) Will sound great. when you are looking for a deck you have rms and peak power.

Buy from crutchfield I think they have great buys. you get everything you need to do the job yourself. They make it pretty much plug and play.

Hope this helps

MOSFET stands for "Metal Oxide Semiconductor Field Effect Transistor" MOSFET's, by design, have a better sound/noise ratio, amongst other qualities. They are much more common in amplifiers, so not really a unique feature as they might have been 15 years ago.

Pioneer itself is popular and has some good quality products. You might try carsound.com or epinions.com and try and locate a review or forum thread.

the pioneer website might be of help to give you specs on the hu if it's a current model.

MOSFET's as mentioned above is standard today even on the lower end gear..Not a big deal... I've had good luck with the Pioneer Premier brand in the past and it's just about the same price as the standard Pioneers.

Units to consider:

Alpine
Kenwood Excelon
Pioneer Premier
Eclipse
