Finally my finished kingcab sub box! (pics)

Ok I have finally finished my sub box for 2 10" subs in a kingcab. It has 0.55 ft^3 airspace for each sub and a 5.75" maximum mounting depth. I am going to use 2 JL 10W3V2 subs in it. I still have to carpet it and install my speaker terminal cups. I can put some plans for the box up later if anybody wants to see. Let me know what you think!

The optimal airspace is like 0.625 ft^3 but they can operate in anything from like 0.4-0.7 or something. I'm gonna polyfill it so it should sound great.

looks like you could have gotten a little more airspace out of it.

size mdf

What size mdf did you use? How much of a diference does the 1/4" make I know 3/4 is prefered but how much of a diference does it make? And has anyone ever rhino lined there box? I was thinking of doing it.

Well having a more sturdy box should allow for better sound, the less the box flexes the better.

Although I'd much rather have 1/2 inch MDF than 3/4th in particle board.

I don't think they had 1/2". There's no reason not to use 3/4", you would gain minimal airspace with the extra 1/4". I just can't wait to get some speakers and hear this thing. It really fits good, better than I thought. I'm just gonna carpet my box. I still need to get some carpet and spray adhesive and mount my terminal cups in the back of the box.

This was my second attempt. I did my first last week and it cracked and sucked in general. The new one is awesome!

My box is all finished! It is carpeted and all finished looking. Man carpeting a sub box is a huge pain in the a$$. I reinforced it with staples and then cut out little carpet pieces to stick over the staple heads. You can't even tell they're there under close inspection. I just need some speakers now and some 8ga wire. I'll post some final pics whenever I get some subs for it.

Well, it was just a pain to get each piece to fit just right and not be too short or bunch up. Just take it one piece at a time and make sure it sticks totally to the edge and butts up against the other pieces of carpet. I tried to make it out of the least number of separate pieces of carpet. If I did it again, I would have actually cut less pieces and just wrapped the main piece around most of it. Not too hard but after adding the extra staples to it, it was much more sturdy and the carpet was attaced alot better.
