KC sub box on passenger side?

How come nobody has built a sub box for a KC that goes under the passenger side seat "70%" side that goes over the arch to get maximum air space. When you have the seat down it would cover it up. I like having the area on the floor open behind the driver seat to put stuff and have quick access to it. Does anyone know of one?

I looked into it, but realized that with the thickness necessary for MDF, combined with the lack of space, you dont get that much extra volume using that space.

That and I wanted the extra floor space on teh passenger side when the seat was raised up.

So, I made one using a 10" sub below the drive side seat. Looks great, sounds great, and was cheap to make.

Here is the DIY that I wrote:

Thanks for the info, I'm sure I could make one and just leave it on the passenger side instead. That is about the right air space for just about any 10. Thats what I'd probaby use now. I think its a good balance. Thanks for the post!

P.S. I use Unigraphics at my job here in New Hampsire. I havent had the "time" to model one up, now i dont have to.

Thanks!

You ahve a great idea, I wanted to do the same thing, ended up gettign 2 10's though.

I woudl try to use all the extra space you can get with most woofers. Seems worthwhile to me, especialy if you glass it.

A great idea to build over the hump? I would love to be able to build a glass box but don't have the experience or the resources. I live in an apartment and don't even know where I'll build the box yet. That is why I was looking for a prefabricated one. I know it would cost more but it would be worth it to save me the aggravation. I would even consider the JL stealth box if it fit but that's $$$$$$.

One reason could be the spare tire jack, and changing tools.

I thought about having a "dumb side" for more air space but really like having the floor open, you can put a lot of stuff right there with the seat up.

I basically want this.... but for a KC

http://www.jlaudio.com/stealthbox/titan.html#

For some reason they decided to only make it for the crew. I'm sure it was easier with the larger area to work with but it shouldnt be that much different. They made that one work with 2- 10" w3 subs. They should be able to make it fit just one 10 or even a 12 in a KC.

they are still working on the KC version I think it should be out by X-mas, I was told May then June then September or something so I'm just hoping by next year they will have it lol.

I'm not waiting anymore as I'm sure you could have someone build you one jsut as good or the $$

I'm goign to miss my floor storage space, I might just get the box Line-Xed so I can toss my crap on top of it and use it as the floor lol.

I ave a TON of space right now with the rear seats out, it's kinda fun, those reas seats help prevent road noise I noticed... Probably just all the bolt holes I'm hearing..

I think I could sleep back there with a small airmatress.

I found this about the JL deal.

http://www.titantalk.com/forums/arch...p/t-25284.html

Anyway, thats why I wanted it to be on just the pass. side to maintain the extra room you get with the seats up. If the box had a flat top you could still put some stuff on it provided its a down firing like the JL is. I'm bummed its going to be so long, probably for the better I'd have to save up! Does anyone know how much they get for the CC model? has anyone actually heard one???

I know you can modify a "probox" but they dont have what I was looking for either.

Thanks.

I don't know the real date I jsut have a feeling it should be out by december but no one really knows.

Probox Does in fact have the box you are looking for, it's not on their website though, give them a call and post your findings. There was a member on this forum that posted something about it.

I bought my Pro-box for $150 or so. With one Diamond Comp 10" it rocks. Way more bass than a sealed enclosure. But you will need more amp to push it than a sealed box.
