Pioneer AVIC-D1 HU Navigation Wires...???

Hello,

Just rec'd my AVIC-D1 Nav unit...

To others that have installed nav systems or similar. Where are these wires in the truck located??? Wire color to look for?

Car Speed Signal Input

Parking Brake Wire

Reverse Gear Signal Input

I know I can find the reverse back-up light wire and the e-brake wires...But any help to make it easier to those who have installed would be appreciated!!

THANKS!!!

The speed signal wire is a white/red wire. If you have the Nav unit the wire is on pin 28 on the Nav Control Unit. It is also on pin 29 in the plug that connects to the back of your instrument cluster. That may be the easier place to connect. See attached drawings.

Thanks! The wire on the NAV unit is marked...That part is easy...Now I know where to tie the speed wire into...

What about the other wires? The back-up lead and parking brake?

Thanks in advance!

There is a backup wire that is green with a white stripe located with a bunch of other wires underneath a black cover under the truck, just behind the front passenger side tire. The wires run in a split loom from a connector under the black cover to the rear of the truck. I think Rspitz posted about that. Is that something that activates a backup camera (if so equipped) ?

On the parking brake wire, if that is something that cripples features of your unit unless the parking brake is applied to ground the wire, you might want to either just ground the wire or use a toggle switch to switch it to ground so that you can selectively ground the wire to enable features of the unit. I don't know anything about your unit, so I am assuming that the parking brake wire is meant to be connected to ground (-) so you should check your manual to make sure you wouldn't be shorting something out by grounding that wire.

PERFECT!

Thanks so much for the help! Yes...Grounding that wire does enable other Nav features while driving (the wife can play with it then!)...

I will need the back up wire for my camera...

Thanks!

yea, ground the parking brake wire.

the reverse wire is used for a backup camera and to keep the navigation accurate. when you are reversing, the arrow on the GPS screen continues to point foward because it knows you're going backwards. otherwise, everytime you reverse, the screen would immediately flip 180 degrees thinking that you are travelling the other direction.

here is a link on how to defeat the loss of functionality during driving.

btw... use at your own risk.. i will not be held responsible. yadda yadda yadda.
