Trouble Re-Installing KC Rear Doors.

I matted my doors and the Plastic Skins will not go back on. Spent 3 hours and no luck getting the door back on.

So I guess I need to remove all the Matt?

The middle plastic Clip will not pop in, or if I do pop it in it pops right back out.

The Panel is spaced farther from the window on the Seatbelt side than the other side. Is this the way it normal is? I can't remember they have been off so long. I can't see anything interfearing with the panel not going back on correctly, I have studied it and all I could find was some marks in the RAAMAT from the plastic fins on the door. THis stuff Is hard as hell to remove my fingers are swollen from trying to get the matt back off.

yeah you should have marked all the open holes for the orange poppers and the screw

and also the shape of the door panel

if you really need to take it off, which I doubt use a blow dryer and a exacto knife for the areas that are restriciting the panel

and another thing is that depending on how you pulled the door off --the poppers may have need damaged and you need to buy a new bag of them ---that or you may have bent the actual panel

post a pic of the metal maybe that will help

do like smoke said. cut around the pop ins and the inside edge of the door panels so it fits flush. I overmatted my door too and had to cut to fit right. the clips don't go in that far so any obstruction like matting will hinder the "click" you get when in pops in correctly.

when you cut with a razor, you tug on the foil and the sticky part will come off with it with a little force.

I have all the door pops cut out and I tried usin different clips but none of them are damaged. (I cut out the entire circle so there would be no depth issues or clearance problems for the pops). It looks like the cup holder on the KC door must be flush against the Metal so maybe you cannot deaden the KC doors all the way. ( have a feeling the cupholder is going to resonate like a ***** with it flush against the metal) Either that or maybe the plastic support fins at the top of the door panel. Basicaly I just deadened them like the front doors. I guess that was not the correct thing to do. If I had the option again I would not have deadened them at all or replaced the speakers in them or even touched them. It does not make sense it just won't go back on.

I did not bend the panel or anything like that either I was really careful removing these! only broke 1 clip from both doors.

I really can't figure out what is wrong I may jsut end up removing most of the deadener maybe you cannot fully deaden the KC doors Good idea about marking the door from the outside of teh panel before removing it now it's a huge mess and I think I'm going to have to remove all the deadener on the top 1/2 of the door. I think 1 layer of matt is just too much thickness to get the door back on.

The deadener really does not want to come off either, it would rather stick to the paint than the foil it came on. I also have to cut through foam so I a scratching the **** out of the door.

I took pics I will post when I get home...

LOL it's just super frustrating since I only get time to work on this durring the weekend which I will be lacking for the next few weeks. Hell the damn door panels have been off my truck longer than on it since I have owned it. It is starting to feel like a real old beat up vehicle....

So can someone with a KC please confirm that the rear door panels are almost right against the window? and they are equal distances on both sides?

I think I may have to take mine to the dealer for them to fix it

When I had my Titan the door shell was not up against the window...There was about a 1/8" gap all the way around the window..

hey if you're passing by fountain valley I'll take a look at it. maybe a 2nd opinion or view can help.

the dealer will totally charge you for it plus they may cut up all the damping and add more time to the bill.

we can talk about our trucks some and hear what we got so far. I have CDT eurosports now installed.

When I matted my rear KC doors I left the area around the cupholder/handle unmatted and didn't run into any problems.

no I'm staying home. maybe working on the car some more or something. Still have lots to do on it. ongoing project. Funny I just bought a used 05 yamaha yfz450 but i'm going to sell it. I want a sportscar or fix up the titan some more.

I have the yellow eurosports. they actually fit in the same baffle I had made for the XXX 6.5 I think the tweets are silk but not sure. not too metallic of a sound and easy on my ears.

hit me up if you're in the area.
