Using ac drain hole

Anyone know of any problems feeding an amp power cable through the foam of the AC Drain hole on the passenger side?

Ran the AC today and no leaks getting in. I did feel something pop out while pushing the cable in. Felt like a rubber gasket but I cannot find it.

Can someone post a pic so I know if it had one or not?

I’m surprise the drain pipe just sticks out into the engine compartment like that. I can see how the water can just flow back in the cabin when parked on a hill.

i wouldn't mess with that just in case of future problems. the dealer will blame you for messing with it and not warranty. if it's not too big of a cable I think you can run it thru a different grommet. I drilled a hole for my 0 guage. took 2 tries

Ha, me too. You can fit 8ga through the hood release grommet on the driver's side. I agree, don't put a wire through the A/C drain, it leaks very easily. My hasn't leaked, but I messed around with it while the A/C was running and it caused it to drain some water out.

Note to self do not use the AC drain hole.

Well the AC didn't leak but it just rained and some water got in. I guess its coming in from the bottom.

I'm using 4 gauge wire. Need to find a hole.

Why not just drill and use a water tight grommet?

ive used the A/C drain hole since i installed my system about 1 yr ago
and yes i to had the problem of the A/C draining into the truck .. but i fixed that problem with a rubber hose like lots of other people on this forum... as far as im concerned i woulda had the A/C problem with or without the power wire running through the a/c drain hole.... my 2 cents
