I just got my DLS MS6 speakers today and to my dismay, one of the tweeter domes was dented. It looked like a loose screw in the box just fell on it and because of how fragile it is, the dome dented. They are the DLS 28mm ultimate tweeters, the same as on the iridiums I think. The place I got them said I can sent the tweets back and they will replace them so I may do that. Also I was told to try and use a low powered shop vac or something and try and suck it back out. I think the dome is just cosmetic and the real sound producing tweeter is behind, is this true? If anyone has any tips, let me know. What do you think I should do?

I think functionally it's ok but I'd rather get them replaced because you may want to sell them and that dent will knock down the price whether it sounds different or not.

Well if I can't get the dent out, I'm gonna send them back. The material is really delicate looking so the vaccum trick may just work. I'm gonna try it later today.

Damn dude that sucks. I wonder how that happened. Yea I guess you will have to send it back if the vacume trick does not work. It has worked for me on woofers in the past.
At least you can get everything installed but the tweeters, just disconnect the crossover for that side untill you get a fix then drop the new tweeter in the dash. At least you can get started. I'm hoping that I get my Rears today since you got yours

Well the vaccum worked so I don't think I'll have to send it back. Is the dome on the tweeter just ornamental or is it actually functional? And is there anything under it that may be damaged by a small dent? You can't even tell it was dented though now. I need a head unit soooo bad now cause I want to install these. I need to get funding for my PAC SWI-PS unit, bezel, bracket, wiring harness, and Fatmat also though so it may be a few months still.

oh so you have no way to test out that tweeter? Dang I guess that will get you motivated. Just msg the guy and let him know your situation so if you end up having to send it back it won't be an issue. Should be udner warranty for quite some time. I have not sceen the tweeters that come with the MS6, mine have huge domes on them with the Iridiums and I dunno if they are just ornamental or not. It's probably fine.
what is the PAC-SWI-PS for?

Under the dome is usually a wad of cotton, or silk, or some soft fely like material. I dont think it could be "damaged" like the dome. I think its there to absorb the inverted sound? Not sure though thats just a guess
I actually hooked the fixed tweeter in series with the other tweeter and hooked it up to my home stereo. It doesn't have much power so it didn't hurt anything. Both tweeters sounded identical. I can send them back if I want to and he said he will send me 2 new ones, but now I don't see the point. The PAC SWI-PS is for the steering wheel controls and hooks into the wired remote connection on either Pioneer or Sony head units. This way, I don't need the infared sensor and don't have to deal with those problems. The tweeters are the same for the iridiums and the MS6's I'm pretty sure. They are the 28mm ultimate tweeters.
If I wanted to go ahead and install these with the stock HU for now, would it even have enough power to justify putting the speakers in? I definitally want to deaden the doors at the same time I put the speakers in and make my MDF adapters so I never have to open the door panel up again.

I thought the tweeter was different on the MS6. I believe the MS6 uses a UP1C. Tweeter and the iridiums use a Iridium1 (I thoguht i was called UR1 before) Tweeter.
Oh thats right. I didn't realize there were 2 28mm tweeters. The 2 have the same wierd delicate dome material over the tweeter though and I think sucking it back out will not affect the sound or look at all. Man these speakers look soooo nice, I want to install the really bad. I may actually sell my DV camcorder to buy a HU and Fatmat.... Did you ever run your speakers off HU power only for a while? If so, how did they sound cause I'm gonna have to do that until I can get the DLS reference 2x100 amp. I'm gonna get it off the same guy, he is really good to deal with and I was really impressed with the service and speed of shipping.

Yea I just got my 426's in today. Where are you going to install the crossovers for your rear coaxil speakers? I'm thinking of donig some more drilling into the back wall at this point as I don't see any other options. lol
I don't th ink you should have any problems with that tweeter but if you do I'm sure he can hook you up with new ones later since you mentioned the problem to him. Just rememebr you should disconnect the ground from your battery when hooking up your amp and hook up the amps ground wire first.
I don't think you really need 100 watts (but that would be optinal IMO) I don't for my iridiums I can bottom them out (or I think thats what might be happening i'ts so loud at this level hard to tell) off my 75 watt amp and NOT driving them into clipping, but with 100 watts you can probably cross them over higher and get some real loud output. Who knows what frequency they based the power rating on. They vibrate my overhead console and mirrors when they hit!
Just remember not to touch the cones on your 6.5's!

Oh, and yes I did run mine of my Eclipse Hu for some time, they worked quite well actualy, lacked in output though, Be careful with your volume knob you don't want to clip them. Eclipse is known to not clip untill to about full volume if at all but other HU's will so just be careful with that volume knob I would recomend keepig it under 2/3rds if you go that route! Don't hook them up to the factory HU though, Pointless and will likely damage something.

Yea, I'll probably just wait it out and hook them up with my HU all at once. I am still going back and forth about a 2 ch amp for them though. I really wish JL made a 75x2 amp or even a 100x2 amp. I seem to remember reading somewhere that DLS amps take multiple power wires or some weird connection scheme like that. Is that true?

Yea but they only require one, you can use 2 but it is not necessary, I dunno if thats just on their ultimates or not I was thinking about using 2 since I have extra room on my disrto block and 120 amp Maxi fuses are hard to come by.
I'm actualy Considering purchasing 2 DLS Iridium 10" and the A6, I found the A3 is only 2 ohm stable when bridged (but it creates a 1 ohm load on the amp) thats why it lists 1 ohm bridged in the specs. Plus the A6 is cheaper.
The only thing is they are very high power class A/B amps so it has potential to draw more current than our alternators can even put out 140A However thats probably at 8V! The higher the input voltage the less power they draw. Tplaya told me himself he has both an A3 and A6 running on his 90 amp alternator with no issues. SO I think they would only pull that much current if putting out their max power, with low voltage, and playing test tones.
Actualy I'm trying to decide between
2 ARC Audio Arc Series 10" for $250
2 Adire Kodas for $400
and the DLS Combo for $925 (2 10" Iridium woofers, and the A6)
I'm leaning towards the DLS, but people are telling me to stick with adire, but others say IDQ sounds better than the Adires and ARC is supposed to be better (revamped IDQ) than IDQ.
I'm going crazing trying to dicede for the past 3 weeks because If I go with the Koda or Arc I can use my existing Hifonics Class D amp.
I think you would be ok with the JL 300/2 as long as you set your gains with a DMM.

Those ultimate amps are nice, but crazy expensive. I didn't think about just running the 2 power wires off the distro block. That would be easier and I am gonna have an open spot on mine anyway. Are you running a regulare distro block or a fused or ground block or something? Which is better?
I would really like to get an A5 amp. That would truely be the perfect amp for what I am running, but I think there like $600 or something like that. Would that amp fit behind the KC rear seat on the driver's side you think? Its like 16.15" long, which would be the limiting factor.
Did you fit your crossovers in the front doors or are they somewhere else? These things are huge but I really want them in the doors. There is only 1 obvious setting on the crossover and slope so I won't need access to them for tuning (I am assuming most put the tweeter level on mid and there was a setting for mounting the tweeter on the dash according to the manual).
I'm really impressed with the DLS stuff so if you can afford it I bet those subs are awesome.
